NEW RELEASE: Author Shelby Renjifo’s ‘A Wasp at a Funeral’, Nelson DeMille says “it’s nothing short of amazing”

Gold Coast Talent Receiving Big Praise for Clever & Unique Tale

Screenwriter, Novelist, and Glen Cove, NY native, Shelby Renjifo, is proud to present her freshman release, “A Wasp at a Funeral”; which asks the question: “What would you say at your loved one’s funeral—or even your own for that matter?”. Four narrators lead four very different chapters—and proposed eulogies—in this fictional novella.

Already accumulating accolades, legendary Long Island based author, Nelson DeMille, recently remarked:

“Shelby Renjifo’s novella is nothing short of amazing. A ground-breaking work of fiction that pulls you into a Gatsby-esque world of privilege and comfort where everything is not as it seems. Shelby Renjifo’s writing is elegant and engaging, and the story is haunting and heart-breaking. We have to see more of Ms. Renjifo.”

After receiving an EVVY nomination for “Outstanding Writing for Prose” for the short story version of the book, she decided to extend her tale further; and while working as a Writers Production Assistant for Danny Strong’s “Dopesick”, she completed her piece, along with a portfolio of screenplays.

Each chapter unfolds a new narrators’ perception of the main character’s short life based on their own intimate—often skewed—anecdotes at his funeral. Don’t act like you’ve never thought about it before—how would you present on that podium?

Shelby Renjifo is a screenwriter and novelist who grew up in Glen Cove, New York, and is a graduate from Emerson College. Shelby recently released her critically acclaimed novella “A Wasp at a Funeral”, and has a portfolio of screenplays currently in different stages of production. She is also diligently working on her first novel. No matter the writing medium, she hopes to use her voice to unite others through art.

New Book “Smile! Be Happy! Life Lessons From An Uncommon Housewife” by Angela LaRosa Seeks to Spread Thoughtful and Inspiring Advice Through Positivity

Having Overcome Many Trials and Tribulations From Losing Her Mother at a Young Age to Being Diagnosed with a Brain Tumor and Raising A Child With Autism – Angela Shares What She Has Learned From Handling Life’s Challenges and Choosing to Move On While Staying Happy and Healthy

Cover with Synopsis (1)

Being a housewife is challenging – managing a home, assisting a husband in business, and raising four children (not to mention taking care of yourself), which is the focus of the inspirational new book “Smile! Be Happy! Life Lessons From An Uncommon Housewife” by Author/Mother/Wife and Health Coach Angela LaRosa, out now via Legacy Projects.

In the books introduction, Angela states “I have wanted to write this book for a long time, but never did because I considered myself in the eyes of society to be just an ordinary woman without the fame required to appeal to the masses” continuing “But then I came to realize that this is exactly why I should do this book – because as a suburban mother of four beautiful children, a happy housewife, and someone devoted to prayer and making the world around me a more positive and loving place, I may make a difference”. And that is certainly what she has done.

In chapters from “The Basics” where she touches on topics like finding balance, prayer, faith, and common sense to “Children and Family” discussing raising a child with Autism, “Communicating Through Challenges” which addresses bullying, self expression, and more – “Smile! Be Happy!” certainly hits on topics all can relate to and learn from. Having brought hope and optimism to every aspect of her life, and with her bold and durable commitment to God, she enjoys a life of beautiful fulfillment and is now proud to share what she has learned.

About the Author:

Angela LaRosa was born in Brooklyn, New York, to loving parents who unfortunately divorced when she was quite young. This triggered a litany of tragedies and loss – first, losing the security of an intact family, and then her “Mommy” in a tragic accident, which took her life. Angela moved to Queens with her father and stepmother, along with an amazing younger brother and sister, with occasional visits from her older brother who lived far away.

As she developed into a young lady, Angela gained strength and wisdom from being exposed to many challenging situations, and she always searched for positive outcomes and solutions. For many years, she wore a smile on her face as a mask to protect herself and others from sadness. She believes this was one of her very first blessings in creating a happy life. Today, she feels her heavenly mother’s spirit constantly guiding and protecting her, along with the grace of God.

Angela currently resides on Long Island with her wonderful husband, four beautiful children, and three dogs, surrounded by a close family and amazing friends. She feels blessed and believes that she can overcome any obstacle in her way with a positive attitude, a smile, and the love and protection of God and all her angels.

Angela aims to project positivity into the world each day as she strives to help others live a happy life. She hopes that her story will encourage and inspire others to create a world of prayer, peace, and prosperity, while wearing an infectious smile.

Having Overcome A Number of Personal and Professional Obstacles Herself, Lori-Girl Creations Founder Lori Miller Uses Some of Her Toughest Experiences As Motivation for Creativity

April, 2016 (Long Island, NY) — For well over a decade, Lori-Girl Creations and its Founder and President Lori Miller have been THE Interior Design Company that can give you exquisite and high-end looks for a shoestring budget. But Miller’s unique talent of transforming spaces for residential and commercial clients alike to help them achieve their specific vision comes from a combination of unlikely places- from the situations she’s overcome, to the corrections facility at which she’s been employed for over 10 years.

It isn’t every day that you hear of a joyfully artistic and creative mind – one that helps so many people to see the true beauty of their living or work space – spending a great deal of time behind the walls of a much harder, colder, and often bleecker daily reality: Rikers Island. But such is the case for Lori Miller, who’s been able to overcome some of her greatest obstacles by turning to her passion for helping others. Though she chose her career in the prison system, other roadblocks from divorce to a number of medical setbacks and diagnoses which would be severe blows to the resolve of many only empowered and strengthened her vision to do what she loved.

Initially starting out with a Masters Degree in Counseling, Lori covered the full spectrum of this field. Working with a variety of populations she eventually landed a Unit Chief position in the psychiatric ward of NY’s largest prison system using her own emboldening life experiences to help those in need of reform. During this time, she accepted a part-time position in a wallpaper store while decorating her own house.  Pursuing her lifelong dream of painting and working in the arts, and looking for a reprieve from the severity of life, this catapulted her talents and creativity.  Full steam ahead Lori knew that to enter the field of Design she would have to return to school. While receiving a Degree in Interior Design, with honors, she gathered the necessary experience working with various products, in showrooms, and with other Interior Designers.

Miller founded Lori-Girl Creations, Inc. in 2000, and now holds degrees in both Interior Design and Psychology. She has been featured in various publications and in a variety of media segments both nationally and locally.

Lori believes that through her training in Feng Shui, Reiki, Native American Studies, Counseling, and Interior Design she can assist people in making positive lifestyle changes. Her view is that your environment impacts on your well-being and focusing on small changes can help to create a clear space through conscious choices.

Lori has also co-authored the book Feng Sh…What? The Basic Rules of Good Design with Julie Hernandez, a licensed therapist. This is the first book written in dialogue format which explains the decorating process. With an easy-going conversational manner, they take you on a journey that explores the unique relationship between personality and design. It is a colorful, picture-filled book which provides you with step-by-step instructions, checklists, design ideas, a color test and advice to help you gain insight into your own unique personality & style.

With such a unique story, Lori Miller is a true testament to the power of perseverance, following your passions, and overcoming hardships. And now that Spring has sprung, Lori-Girl Creations provides the perfect opportunity for those looking to breathe new life into their commercial or living space through conceptual planning, aesthetic and technical solutions.

Joe Beck’s “Suburban Sins” Brings Mystery & Suspense To New Levels in Gripping Novel

Long Island, New York (November, 2015) — Sometimes being the smartest one in the room can be the best advantage towards working for a specific goal- but not when that brilliance is tinged with evil and that goal is revenge. More About “Suburban Sins”:

Andrew Benson has a plan. A nursing student at one of the best hospitals in New York State, Andrew is the smartest one there and he knows it. He has a long and sordid history with this hospital, and he’s here for revenge – if he can make it through without attracting too much attention. And no one notices him more than the object of his affections, his teacher the lead doctor, Dr. Kathy Silvey. However, she doesn’t notice him in the way he wants, making his job a touch more difficult, especially with the aid of her boyfriend, Officer Ken Hill. Ken Hill is a man with secrets, both on and off the job. He tries to do right by his family, despite his gambling problem and debt, and when relatively healthy patients at his girlfriend’s hospital – including her grandfather – start dying, he promises to find out who is responsible. She already has a suspect in mind: that off-putting nursing student sending her chapters of his novel and claiming they have a connection, Andrew Benson. But there isn’t enough evidence to convict Benson, so Hill must catch him in the act. However, with bills coming due both on and off the books, plus a huge gamble that could lose Hill his career, his family, and possibly his life, he must scramble to save everyone, and everything, that’s important to him. He might even make a new friend along the way.

Joe Beck has written, co-authored and collaborated on 12 books, from fiction novels, to non-fiction to how to books. During the last 25 years, he’s written for national and international trade and consumer magazines and newspapers. His work has taken him across North America, Central America, Europe, Japan and Africa. Though often traveling extensively on assignments, he calls Long Island, New York home. Born to a Navy pilot and a singer, Joe was born on a Navy base in Pensacola, Florida, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, and since then he’s lived in Virginia Beach, Yokohama and Atsugi, Japan, Monterey, San Diego and New York as well as traveling to East Africa on safari and to Europe. Joe particularly enjoys working on biographies, and he’s interviewed Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, actors, entertainers and politicians such as Hector Elizondo, Brian Dennehy, Sweet Georgia Brown, Paula Poundstone, Margaret Cho, NYC Mayoral candidate Fernando Ferrer, Billy Joel, Dee Snyder and many others.

As yet another new voice in the Mystery & Suspense genre, Beck’s is undoubtedly a loud one. Weaving a nuance of believability and excitement into this provocative thriller, “Suburban Sins” will bring any reader on a suspenseful ride following the hero, the villain, their secrets, and the innocent bystanders in the wake of it all!
