New York Interior Designer Takes Inspiration From The Hardest of Places as Employee of NYS Prison System

Having Overcome A Number of Personal and Professional Obstacles Herself, Lori-Girl Creations Founder Lori Miller Uses Some of Her Toughest Experiences As Motivation for Creativity

April, 2016 (Long Island, NY) — For well over a decade, Lori-Girl Creations and its Founder and President Lori Miller have been THE Interior Design Company that can give you exquisite and high-end looks for a shoestring budget. But Miller’s unique talent of transforming spaces for residential and commercial clients alike to help them achieve their specific vision comes from a combination of unlikely places- from the situations she’s overcome, to the corrections facility at which she’s been employed for over 10 years.

It isn’t every day that you hear of a joyfully artistic and creative mind – one that helps so many people to see the true beauty of their living or work space – spending a great deal of time behind the walls of a much harder, colder, and often bleecker daily reality: Rikers Island. But such is the case for Lori Miller, who’s been able to overcome some of her greatest obstacles by turning to her passion for helping others. Though she chose her career in the prison system, other roadblocks from divorce to a number of medical setbacks and diagnoses which would be severe blows to the resolve of many only empowered and strengthened her vision to do what she loved.

Initially starting out with a Masters Degree in Counseling, Lori covered the full spectrum of this field. Working with a variety of populations she eventually landed a Unit Chief position in the psychiatric ward of NY’s largest prison system using her own emboldening life experiences to help those in need of reform. During this time, she accepted a part-time position in a wallpaper store while decorating her own house.  Pursuing her lifelong dream of painting and working in the arts, and looking for a reprieve from the severity of life, this catapulted her talents and creativity.  Full steam ahead Lori knew that to enter the field of Design she would have to return to school. While receiving a Degree in Interior Design, with honors, she gathered the necessary experience working with various products, in showrooms, and with other Interior Designers.

Miller founded Lori-Girl Creations, Inc. in 2000, and now holds degrees in both Interior Design and Psychology. She has been featured in various publications and in a variety of media segments both nationally and locally.

Lori believes that through her training in Feng Shui, Reiki, Native American Studies, Counseling, and Interior Design she can assist people in making positive lifestyle changes. Her view is that your environment impacts on your well-being and focusing on small changes can help to create a clear space through conscious choices.

Lori has also co-authored the book Feng Sh…What? The Basic Rules of Good Design with Julie Hernandez, a licensed therapist. This is the first book written in dialogue format which explains the decorating process. With an easy-going conversational manner, they take you on a journey that explores the unique relationship between personality and design. It is a colorful, picture-filled book which provides you with step-by-step instructions, checklists, design ideas, a color test and advice to help you gain insight into your own unique personality & style.

With such a unique story, Lori Miller is a true testament to the power of perseverance, following your passions, and overcoming hardships. And now that Spring has sprung, Lori-Girl Creations provides the perfect opportunity for those looking to breathe new life into their commercial or living space through conceptual planning, aesthetic and technical solutions.

Expo Welcomes THE Network Helping to Growing the Success of Independent Musicians as Sponsor

April, 2016 (Freeport, NY) —  With the 5th Annual NY Guitar Show & Exposition (#NYGuitarShow) only a few weeks away at the Freeport Recreation Center (130 E. Merrick Rd) April 23 & 24, 2016 in Freeport, Long Island, the #1 Worldwide Independent Music Video TV Channel and Social Network dedicated to the independent musician – IndiMusic TV – has joined the excitement as one of the newest sponsors!

IndiMusic TV was originally founded in 2004 as a “go to” music video website and then launched as a half hr TV show in 2008 in the NY tri-state area on the independent TV Network WLNY TV10/55. It garnered instant popularity as it was the only game in town to launch, market and expose new indie Music Videos on traditional TV. After three successful seasons, IndiMusic TV broadened their horizons by launching a worldwide mobile TV network partnering with Yamgo TV, a mobile TV start up in the UK. In September 2012, IndiMusic TV launched as the first 24-7 independent only Worldwide Music Video TV channel and Musician Social Network.

They are now the exclusive place to go to see syndicated episodes of A&E’s Emmy Award winning “Private Sessions” which features former VH1 VJ Lynn Hoffman sitting down with world renowned artists like Maroon 5, Gene Simmons of KISS and Bon Jovi to name a few (airing Thursdays at 9PM EST). Plus, IndiMusic TV also boasts former FUSE VJ Juliya Chernetsky who spends time hosting shows and events on a regular basis for the company, as well. Juliya introduces many of the Video Block segments 24/7.

The site was founded by Chris Pati, who’s had an incredible amount of success as a Solo Artist and Label Owner outside of being the Founder and Visionary behind IndiMusic TV. Pati has had over a dozen top 20 Billboard hits, and has worked as a Producer with a wide variety of famed talents including Rebbie Jackson, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees The Isley Brothers, World renowned bass player Bakithi Kumalo of Paul Simon’s “Graceland”, Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits, and some of the biggest record labels in the world including Atlantic Records, Universal, Warner Bros, Capitol, Universal and many more. A musical prodigy in his own right, he began at 5 years old playing piano, guitar, bass and drums, and established himself as a multi-instrumentalist by age eight. Chris was honored by Berry Gordy (former President of Motown Records) who called on him to arrange and perform an impromptu medley of “America the Beautiful” and “Lift Up Your Hearts And Voices” for opera star and actress N’kenge at President Obama’s 2009 Inaugural Ball among such noted musicians as Bon Jovi, Josh Groban, Jordan Sparks, Peter Frampton, and Smokey Robinson.

The NY Guitar Expo has expanded substantially since its initial inception. Founder Richard Johnson said recently of this year’s show “Our fifth year is going to be larger and better than ever as new sponsors and media partners join in on what is now the fastest growing Guitar Show on the east coast, tripling in size since our inception in 2012!”.

The show features new, vintage and used instruments & amps, local dealers/music stores, retailers, custom builders and major manufacturers. Everyone attending can participate and enjoy everything the Expo has to offer in some way!

Guitar players and enthusiasts will have their chance to buy, sell, and trade with a wide range of dealers and collectors which include industry giants Taylor Guitars, D’Addario Guitar Strings and Gbase as well as Premier Guitar, Supro Amps, All Music Inc. and MORE from gear manufacturers to custom builders. With 10,000 sq. ft. of guitars, gear, and a private pedal & amp room it is the place to be for serious players or those just getting into their groove!

Now, with IndiMusic TV coming on board for this year’s Expo- music lovers of all kinds have the opportunity to not only be exposed to some of the best names in the guitar industry, but one of the newest and most exciting platforms for independent bands and musicians!

Gnarly Karma Ready to Bring Their Lyrical Jam Rock and Powerful Live Shows to NYC, NJ, and All Over Long Island in Coming Weeks

Long Island Based Foursome to Play the Legendary Bitter End Saturday, 4/16, Open for Famed Guitarist of The Doors Along with a Slew of Upcoming Dates Through Summer

April, 2016 (New York, NY) — Having recently taped a performance for their TV debut on My Long Island TV and Verizon FiOS1’s “Rick’s Rising Stars”, been featured on’s “CROWD PICKS”, Eastern Surf Magazine’s On the Record, premiered their video for “Grey Street” (Dave Matthews Band Cover) via Elmore Magazine, AND been mentioned in a recent New York Times article regarding their studio: Montclair Records – Long Island’s own Gnarly Karma seem to be spreading their good vibes to bigger and bigger audiences as they head further into 2016! With their debut album “Classic Breeze”- released via iTunes last September – as the catalyst for their recent growth, the band is set to continue bringing their mix of different influences while still keeping unique elements to their sound that make them stand out to bigger audiences. Too see for yourself, you can check them out as they hit the stage at Legendary downtown NYC venue The Bitter End Saturday, April 16th and rock one of their biggest shows to date- opening for Robby Krieger of The Doors & Special Guest The Edgar Winter Band Wednesday, April 27th at The Wellmont Theatre, Montclair, NJ!  (Full List of Upcoming Dates Below)

The group consisting of members Mike Renert (Vocals, Guitar, Harmonica), Jarrod Beyer (Drums, Percussion), Ryan McAdam (Bass), and Billy Hanley (Alto & Tenor Saxophone, Keyboard, BGV’s) brings a wide and varied range of influences to the table equating to their unique sound, which is most often associated with that of Dave Matthews Band, Sublime, and Mumford & Sons, but not restricted by genre. Originally starting in 2012 with Renert and Beyer, McAdam and Hanley later came into the mix having gone to school together with Beyer, who’d also performed with McAdam in Alt band “We Love Radio”.

Though the “outer layer” of their music could be most closely associated with the folksy “jam” elements of bands like DMB, Mumford, or even O.A.R., a more unique style mixing a harder acoustic-punk, post-hardcore edge in many of the songs off “Classic Breeze” makes it evident that–like many bands often pigeonholed by genres–there’s more to find when you keep peeling. With songs like the acoustic driven “Neptune” evoking Jimmy Eat World’esque or even Taking Back Sunday comparisons, “Directions” could be more closely associated with that of Dave Matthews through not only Hanley’s eloquent horn arrangement but Renerts vocals as well. A tune like “Please Come Home” brings these elements full circle with its catchy chorus “Don’t ask me where I’m going // Don’t ask me where I’ve been” with overdubbed crowd vocals making the true live band experience unmistakeable.

Screenshots From Gnarly Karma’s “Grey Street” (Dave Matthews Band Cover) Video Directed By Andrew Malary and shot at Montclair Records

Upcoming Dates:

Saturday, April 16th, 9PM @ The Bitter End, New York, NY

Wednesday, April 27th, 8PM @ The Wellmont Theatre w/ Robby Krieger of The Doors, Montclair, NJ

Thursday, April 28th, 8PM @ The Space at Westbury, Westbury, NY

Friday, July 15th, 10PM @ Blue Canoe Bar & Grill, Greenport, NY

Sunday, July 17th (Time TBA) @ 13th Annual Hicksville Summer Street Fair

Saturday, August 13th, 10PM @ Blue Canoe Bar & Grill, Greenport, NY

Sunday, August 28th (Time TBA) @ Sayville Seafood Festival, Sayville, NY

Friday, September 23rd (Time TBA) Greenport Maritime Festival

With a number of various musical elements making up the true core of Gnarly Karma, the band has said of both past and upcoming performances “We give it our all at every show, and do everything in our power to make sure the people that come to see us feel our energy and contribute to it”. And with so many upcoming live dates in the next few months, you can be the first to contribute to that energy Saturday, April 16th at the Bitter End in NYC and most certainly Wednesday, April 27th at the Wellmont Theatre as they open for Robby Krieger of The Doors with the Edgar Winter Band!

Motivational Rapper, Speaker, Role Model, and Counter-Bully Unkle Adams Debuts New Single “Original” with Accompanying Music Video

The Song Features a Powerful Uplifting Message with a Sense of Humor

April, 2016 (New York, NY) — Having recently toured NYC and Long Island with stops at various schools and media outlets including FOX News Radio and the World Journalism Preparatory School in early March, Canada-born MC Curtis Adams AKA Unkle Adams followed his in-person New York debut by releasing a brand new single titled “Original” with an accompanying video! Adams not only performs uplifting and inspirational music, but travels to schools worldwide to speak with students and give them hope on a range of topics from bullying to health, through his music and presentations he is giving “hope to the hopeless” and a “voice to the voiceless”. Much like previous singles such as “Unkle Adams – I Am Stronger”- which has amassed more than 10,000,000 views between Facebook and YouTube, Original (released on March 19th) is a song that is both uplifting and educational with a video that has a sense of humor while also carrying a message.

Clad in top-hat and tails as his record player begins to spin his single, one of the first lines Adams sings in the new video for Original is simple yet compelling: “I don’t want to be how everybody else is….I’d much rather be original”. Having tackled subjects such as Bullying, Climate Change, Impaired Driving, Fitness, Healthy Eating, Self-Harm and Domestic Abuse in his music before, the MC’s call-to-action in the new song is an impactful one for many adolescents who are constantly influenced by Peer Pressure. For young children and teens still coming into their own and struggling to find their individuality, the song’s message carries a reminder that many fail to realize on a consistent basis- that it is ok to be different!

Unkle Adams’ inspiration for the song came from what he sees in the world. After all of his frequent travels to schools all over the world, what he’s seen is that people are often ridiculed and made fun of for being different, and he believes that “being unique should be encouraged and embraced!”. He believes that being different is something to be proud of, not something to be ashamed of. The message in this song is simple – be yourself and do your own thing and if other people don’t like it, they can kick rocks. It’s catchy and fun, with a little bit of attitude.

“Look at you doing that just because your friend did. Be yourself and make your decisions independent”

WATCH: Unkle Adams – Original (Official Music Video)

At the New York schools where he gave his powerful presentations recently, Unkle Adams was able to effectively engage the student body by coming at them as a peer and letting them know various ways in which they could become “Anti-bullies”. While asking questions about some of the best ways to get help for students experiencing bullying or how a fellow-student could go about assisting them, many of the students volunteered enthusiastically with answers like “tell your teachers or parents” or “the nearest authority figure”. Adams also touched on the various types of bullying from physical harm to a form that a great deal of today’s youth now more commonly experience: cyber-bullying. Using examples from his own community, he even told the stories of several bullied students who had committed suicide.

Unkle Adams has received hundreds if not thousands of tweets, Facebook messages, and emails from youth and adults alike telling him how his music has impacted their lives. Many of these messages are from people thanking Unkle Adams for saving their lives with his music (as shown below). His music and music videos act as a form of medicine for thousands by helping them to cope with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and suicidal thoughts. Here are just a few of those messages;

WATCH: Unkle Adams – I Am Stronger (Official Anti-Bullying Music Video)

Curtis Adams AKA “Unkle Adams” was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. At the age of 13 he fell in love with Hip Hop music and soon discovered his natural knack for rhyming syllables. Starting out as a freestyle emcee, he quickly progressed from performing at parties, to performing in front of large audiences at local clubs and bars. Today, with 14+ years of experience under his belt, Unkle Adams has established himself as a powerhouse emcee on an international level. Listen to just one of his songs and you will soon understand why. Choosing to write songs containing material that is inspirational, motivational and educational rather than some rappers who are negative, stereotypical and materialistic- the former heavy equipment operator by trade has funded all of his music, recording, advertising, merchandise, equipment and video production independently.

Curtis has been an Uncle since the very second he was born. In fact, he has a nephew who is only ten days older that doubles as his best friend, so naturally, growing up all of his friends called him “Uncle”. Trying to change and evolve hip hop music into its next chapter, Unkle Adams elicits his fans support in this process so that they may have a hand in changing the negative stereotyping that is often associated with hip hop music.

From Media Outlets to Students, Parents, and Law Enforcement Officials; Adams has received tons of positive feedback on both his music and presentations:

“It is one of the best anti-bullying resources I have ever used and I am very picky” – Susan McLean (27 year police officer and Australia’s leading Cyber Safety Expert)

“Empowering kids to handle bullies is a mission for Unkle Adams” – QC Magazine

“He saved my daughter’s life” – Thankful Parent

Unkle Adams is changing the game in regards to not only hip-hop and music in general, but how his lyrical content and persona can help those in need of guidance. With his latest single and video Original, he’s been able to reach his audience through an effective use of fun, attitude, style, and most importantly a message that reverberates through countless young people’s lives- be proud to be yourself!

Unkle Adams has released two albums “Humble Beginnings” and “Pulse” as well as six singles. His current music catalog consists of twenty-nine songs and every one of them delivers a message. He is currently managed by Musik and Film Records.

Couple With History of Keeping Cinema Alive On Long Island Gearing Up For Another Exciting Year with LI International Film Expo

Chairman & President of Long Island Film/TV Foundation Henry Stampfel and Wife Anne Stampfel- Owners of Bellmore Movies, the Malverne Cinema, and the North Shore Towers Cinema- Have Long Been Involved with the Film Industry

Henry Stampfel (Top), Anne Stampfel (Bottom left), and Debra Markowitz (Bottom Right)

April 2016 (Bellmore, NY) — As cinema owners and operators since the 1980’s, Henry and Anne Stampfel have been a part of the Long Island Film and TV scene for over two decades, and have been a huge part in keeping the industry flourishing through their involvement with both the Long Island Film/TV Foundation  (LIFTF) and the Long Island International Film Expo (LIIFE). As current Chairman and President of LIFTF, Henry Stampfel will take on dual roles this year both in helping to coordinate the Film Expo (being held this year from July 13 – 21, 2016) and as owner with his wife Anne of the theatre in which it takes place- the historic Bellmore Movies at 222 Pettit Avenue, Bellmore, NY!

The Stampfels began operating their second theatre location, Bellmore Movies, in 1986. Since the 1970’s, theaters from Wantagh to Merrick began to close down one by one, but situated across from the railroad station- the Bellmore bucked the trend. With a unique reputation as the oldest operating theatre on Long Island, it was built circa 1912 as a freestanding theater in its early days, surrounded by farm fields with houses in the distance. Playbills indicate that live shows before the movies were part of the ticket price. They also took over the Malverne Cinema in 1990 and after a few years of screening commercial, studio films — they converted the theater into a full art house dedicated to showing independent and art films. They met at the Oceanside theatre in 1978 married 2 years later and raised 2 wonderful daughters right here in Nassau County.

In his his Chairman’s Letter for the LIFTF, Mr. Stampfel stated that he “will continue to foster the Film and Television Industry here on Long Island; a place that many of us call home. The economic impact of the surrounding area and the thrilling entertainment we offer is something all of us are proud of.  I believe Long Island continually surprises the world with its vast array of spectacular locations supported by the individual talents and efforts of the Long Island Production community”.

With her recent announcement that Filmmaker submissions for the 2016 Long Island International Film Expo are now complete, Nassau County Film Commissioner Debra Markowitz is the Vice President of the Long Island Film/TV Foundation and Co-founded LIIFE along with the Stampfels and the late Robert Hansen, the films are now in their final acceptance stage. Named “One of the Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World” by MovieMaker Magazine, LIIFE is one of Long Island’s most prestigious film festivals, screening approximately 150 independent films during its weeklong run. The Long Island Film/TV Foundation, a not-for-profit, is also the foremost group providing support to the film/TV and commercial industries on Long Island, and will be honoring several noted professionals in the film/entertainment/media industries this year including Angela Anton (Anton News – Humanitarian Award), Robert Clohessy (Actor- Blue Bloods – Creative Achievement Award), Sal Rendino  (Actor – The Get Down/Billions – Rising Star Award), with more to be announced.

On her own involvement with the expo, Ms. Markowitz recently stated “It’s exciting to see LIIFE become such a premiere film community on Long Island. Having several of my own films on the festival circuit and seeing what other film festivals do to serve the filmmakers, I see how important LIIFE is to fostering a cohesive festival family for foreign, domestic and, of course, our own local filmmakers.”

Last year, LIIFE scheduled 165 short and feature-length quality independent films from around the world, including many from right here on Long Island. Past successes have also included- films such as Michael Cuesta’s LIE starring Brian Cox and Paul Dano screened at the Malverne Cinema with its Long Island Premiere; Tate Taylor (Director of Pretty Ugly People), who won Best Feature and has gone on to act in Winter’s Bone, to direct The Help and the James Brown movie, Get On Up; Julian Adams who won Best Film for The Last Confederate and has since went on to direct Phantom- starring David Ducovny and Ed Harris, and Rick Bieber, who has LIIFE awards for multiple films including The Fifth Quarter and Crazy, also producing such notable films at Flatliners and Radio Flyer.

With another exciting year of involvement with Long Island’s flourishing Film and Television Industries ahead of them, the Stampfel’s, Markowitz, and all involved with LIIFE and LIFTF are sure to continue their legacy of growth and encouragement of filmgoers and filmmakers alike to enjoy all that Long Island has to offer!

April, 2016 (New York, NY) — It takes a great deal to be not only extremely versatile in today’s music industry, but to have the passion, drive and entrepreneurial spirit to take fans by storm, and with her self-titled debut EP and powerful live performances- NY recording artist Corvaa has done just that! Combining genres from pop music to dance, electronica, and house music, she’s able take art and evolve it to suit her unique tone/voice. With her new single “Zipper” OUT NEXT WEEK on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Rhapsody, Google Play and various other online platforms along with two shows coming up Wednesday, April 13th at Astoria’s Melrose Ballroom and Wednesday, May 4th at Revolution Bar & Music Hall in Amityville for a Live TV Taping on Verizon FiOS1’s Rick’s Rising Stars; you’ll have your chance to see this creative talent in action!

Corvaa, the chameleon vocalist, is twenty-eight and a full time entrepreneur. Originally born in Piraeus, Greece she was adopted and raised on Long Island, NY. Re-starting her musical journey in 2013, her initial recordings were all rough, raw, & recorded out of her house through a cell phone. Each time she would sing, the recording was uploaded directly onto Soundcloud. While doing so was a risk, she focused on her talent being showcased vs the quality of the files. Fast forward to present day, and that risk seems to have paid off immensely: with 50,000+ plays on Soundcloud, 10,000+ followers on Instagram & 5,000+ likes on FB, the music industry has taken notice of Corvaa, the artist.

As her following continues to grow, the star yearns to put out quality vocals with beats that pack a punch! Her debut EP disc can be heard on Itunes, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play, CD Baby, and tons of other platforms, and in her own words, she’s said of the monumental undertaking “Knowing I have my own disc of music in under a year puts me at a loss for words. I want to take a moment to personally thank each and every fan out there who continues to support & spread the good word. A quote I live by and have taken so literally it’s tattooed on me: Believe, for anything is possible.”

On her quest for stardom Corvaa realized with bold certainty “I want an empire.”, and in order to create this empire, she would need the right people around her. It takes any artist the right team to achieve their goals, but what brings it all home is Loyalty, and because of this- Team Corvaa was composed of talented artists that reside around the tri-state area, acting as extended family to the singer. At the head of this team is the talented Mark Johnston, who acts as her business partner.

With her music having been supported by Party 105.3 FM, WKRB 90.3, Z88.9, Party 103, Harrah’s Pool After Dark, and Sizzahandz of Crooklyn Clan- its reached over 100 countries and is currently featured on MTV’s Website: Her hit single ‘In and Out of Love’ has been heard around the country in NYC’s Highland Ballroom, Stage 48 and Tokya, as well as on the West Coast in California’s Heat Ultra Lounge and countless other cities in between!

With so much in store for this extraordinary vocalist, entrepreneur, and creative force including her recently released single “Zipper”- you won’t want to miss your chance to catch her LIVE Wednesday, April 13th at Astoria’s Melrose Ballroom and Wednesday, May 4th at Revolution Bar & Music Hall in Amityville for a TV Taping of Rick’s Rising Stars on Verizon FiOS1!
