Brooklyn Power Pop Outfit LUV DOT GOV Set to Release Debut LP “At Least We’ve Got This Madness” Friday, May 18th

With influences ranging from Weezer to Grandaddy, ELO, The Beach Boys and more — NYC/U.K. based rockers LUV DOT GOV have been bringing their unique brand of indie rock to both sides of the pond since their 2016 inception and growing their fanbase from Edinburgh to Brooklyn. Now, as they get ready to unleash their debut LP “At Least We’ve Got This Madness” recorded “in the land of unicorns and castles”….the world will get a better chance to see what the band is truly all about with with TWO upcoming NYC gigs at PIANOS Thursday, April 19th and their RECORD RELEASE at The Local Friday, May 18th at 8PM!

Luv Dot Gov, the brainchild of Matthew Pop (vocals/guitar) and Stevie Seaweeds (drums/vocals), was born on a rooftop in Brooklyn in the summer 2016 as a response to dark, trying times — both personally and politically. The band would quickly become a vehicle for some of the best emotionally honest power pop this side of the 90s. Thankfully, they were armed with the finest collection of tunes penned by Pop over the course of his decades-long career, marrying heartbroken but hopeful lyrics to sticky-sweet melodies — all set to precisely arranged, chunky down-tuned guitars.

By fall 2016, the fledgling Luv Dot Gov had recruited Sean Egan on bass, and had a few local gigs under their belts. However, stressed and depressed in a post-election US, Pop ran away to Scotland for a brief respite in November. It was here he linked up with Graeme Young, a producer and operator of Chamber Studio in Edinburgh. A plan was soon hatched to record Luv Dot Gov’s debut album abroad, taking advantage of Young’s top notch equipment, expertise and extensive network of first-class musicians. After another smattering of stateside and UK shows, Matt and Steve decamped to Scotland for the spring of 2017 to lay down tracks for the record. Here, isolated from the stressors of the States, the songs blossomed into intricate but accessible pop-rock anthems, equally suited for blasting out a car stereo or headphones-on introspection.

Upon Matt and Steve’s return to New York that summer, the band rounded out its roster by bringing in Brandon von Fehr (lead guitar) and Patrick Fischer (keyboard/synth). Now equipped to capture the record’s expansive arrangements live, the new five-piece lineup started honing their skills, sharpening their set into a muscular, airtight slice of indie rock. Soon thereafter, they began booking gigs at venues both trendy and historic (Pine Box Rock Shop, the Bitter End), winning over audiences with their lively stage presence and nostalgic yet forward-thinking sound.

Meanwhile, Young continued refining tracks across the pond, and the resulting album; the hooky and bittersweet “At Least We’ve Got This Madness,” is ready to make its debut on May 18th. In honour of its release, the band will perform the album in its entirety at The Local in Queens, NY! But before then, you can catch them live at PIANOS on Thursday, April 19th. They’ll also be performing a number of shows during the UK’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, with more UK and US dates to follow.

Ian Erix Set to Release Empowering Anthem “Raise Some Hell” Featuring Survivors of the Recent Parkland, FL School Shooting

Misfit Mindz Entertainment, an imprint of Nordican Music Group/The Orchard/Sony Music Entertainment is set to release a benefit record from Ian Erixfeaturing survivors of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting — with 100% of all profits going to victim’s families and survivors of gun violence in addition to non-profits that support social justice movements, such as the student formed March For Our Lives and #NeverAgainMSD organizations. The recording, “Raise Some Hell“, pays homage to the recent lives lost, but is not a sad or sappy song. It is, instead, an up-tempo and empowering battle anthem calling the youth to hold truth to power and rise up against injustice anywhere they see it.

The recording also includes soundbites from some of the most outspoken and high profile student survivors from MSD, namely Emma Gonzalez, David Hogg and Cameron Kasky.

The song is written and performed by rising int’l pop star, Ian Erix, who himself is a survivor of a shooting incident that left him desperately in fear for his life at a US airport, while departing for a tour last year. Erix has toured the world extensively, most recently appearing in the UAE at a pre-show for Katy Perry and performing in the MTV pre-show at Justin Bieber’s Purpose tour in India. Brooke Moriber Performing at NYC’s Mercury Lounge Wednesday, April 11th To Benefit EB Research Partnership

Brooke Moriber Performing at NYC’s Mercury Lounge Wednesday, April 11th To Benefit EB Research Partnership

With her acclaimed National Anthem performance at Madison Square Garden just this past November following the release of her latest EP “Here and Gone”, singer/songwriter Brooke Moriber is getting ready to hit the stage once more – in support of a great cause. On Wednesday, April 11th she’ll perform live at the Mercury Lounge with support from Julian Morgan in an effort to raise money and awareness for the EB Research Partnership – helping the fight against Epidermolysis Bullosa.

WATCH: Brooke Moriber Sings National Anthem LIVE at Madison Square Garden

A native New Yorker, Moriber has been critically acclaimed for her “clarion voice” by the Associated Press and songs that are “destined for high rotation”. Her distinctive sound ranges in influences from Linda Ronstadt to Amy Lee.

Brooke’s unique career started on the Broadway stage where she earned a reputation for her powerhouse vocals and has received special mention by the New York Times for her acting abilities.

Since the age of fifteen, Brooke has been writing and licensing her own original pop/country/rock music to network television and several soundtracks. Brooke’s remarkable ability to juggle her career as a recording artist and an actor has found her sharing the stage and screen with such performers as The Gin Blossoms, Cindy Lauper, Alan Cumming, Lily Taylor and Kristin Johnston.

WATCH – “Cause The Wave: Eddie Vedder and the EB Research Partnership”

EB Research Partnership (formerly Jackson Gabriel Silver Foundation) is the largest 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to funding research aimed at treating and ultimately curing Epidermolysis Bullosa, a group of devastating and life-threatening skin disorders that affect children from birth. An individual with EB lacks a critical protein that binds the layers of skin together. Without this protein, the skin tears apart, blisters and sheers off, leading to severe pain, disfigurement, and wounds that never heal. EB affects the body inside and out. Blisters occur all over the body, as well as in the eyes, mouth, esophagus, and other internal organs. EB causes severe pain, disfigurement, and in too many cases, an early death from an aggressive form of skin cancer. It is estimated that EB affects at least one in every 50,000 births. EB is not specific to any ethnicity or gender. Given that EB affects only 30,000 people in the US, advancing this research relies on the generosity of individuals and corporations.

With donor support, EB Research Partnership has been aggressively and efficiently funding research since 2010. To date, they have raised over $15 million for research grants and been instrumental in securing an additional $35 million for critical EB research. The organization helped to create and continues to support research enabling infrastructure to ensure that treatments will get to those in need as swiftly as possible, and with stars like Moriber and “Pearljam” rocker/activist Eddie Vedder bringing more awareness to the disorder, it can only continue to help in the fight.

And on Wednesday, April 11th Brooke Moriber will help continue that fight as she performs in support of the EB Research Partnership at NYC’s Mercury Lounge (217 E Houston St, New York, NY)!
