Following the release of her single and music video “Hurricane”, it was recently announced that Actress and Singer/Songwriter RAFFAELA will star in new film “REACH” with Garrett Clayton (Disney’s Beach Movie, Hairspray Live!) and Joey Bragg (Liv and Maddie) and from production companies Cappricielli Productions and Autumn Bailey Entertainment, written by Grant Harling, Johnny James Fiore, and Maria Capp! Her newest song “I Love Me” will also be featured and released simultaneously with the film’s release. “Compass” by hit Disney boy-band Forever In Your Mind will also be featured in the film.

RAFFAELA has been hitting the ground running. Currently co-writing her EP with Sony/ATV writers and producers The Vanderveers, some past credits include the music video for her hit “So What?” being a finalist for Best Music Video at the International Family Film Festival. It won Best Song in a Music Video at the Hollywood & Vine Film Festival, and was a select entry at the the Dances With Films Festival, and Rahway International Film Festival.

Her other recent acting credits include The Bandit Hound (starring Judd Nelson, Cathryn Bell, Lou Ferrigno), and Taking a Chance on Love, which she wrote herself. It was nominated for Best Short Film at Dances With Kidz and received honorary mention at the Hollywood & Vine Film Festival.

Joey Bragg, Raffaela Capp, Garrett Clayton, Jordan Doww, Steven Thomas Capp In New Film REACH, Out This Summer

The film centers on a socially awkward genius (Garrett Clayton – “Teen Beach Movie”) who divulges to a pro-suicide support group that he plans to kill himself after being constantly picked on by a former childhood friend and school bully (Jordan Doww – “Hollyweird”) and his widowed father (Bojesse Christopher – “Point Break”).

When the new quirky kid, Clarence (Johnny James Fiore – Co-writer/Associate Producer) in school befriends him, his plans are sidetracked. The pic offers a window into the private lives of bullies and their targets and shows how the power of one small gesture can change the course of one’s life.

RAFFAELA’s “I Love Me” is a fitting song for the new film, as its lyrics deal with self-confidence and empowerment, two issues that are a huge focus in the dramedy.

Being a part of such a powerful film with an outspoken message, along with her continued music success….RAFFAELA is certainly a rising star with a bright future.

More About The Coltrane Home:

A little over fifty years ago, Coltrane’s opus work, “A Love Supreme”, considered by many music enthusiasts and jazz critics to be among the most influential pieces of music of the 20th century, was composed at their Dix Hills home. The Coltranes moved into the Home in 1964. (After John’s passing in 1967, Alice sold the Home in 1973 and moved to Los Angeles.) The Home was slated for demolition until jazz enthusiast and Dix Hills resident Steven Fulgoni helped publicize the significance of the property. In 2004 an outpouring of support from around the world, including letters from Michael Brecker, Herbie Hancock, and many others persuaded the Town of Huntington to purchase the property and convert the site into a park. The Home was placed in the hands of “The Friends of the Coltrane Home in Dix Hills” – aka “The Coltrane Home in Dix Hills”.

According to Friends of the Coltrane Home President Ron Stein, saving and restoring the Home is the right thing to do. “John Coltrane is revered as a music god across all music genres, generations and around the globe. It’s as if Beethoven had composed his Ninth Symphony right here on Long Island. People around the world will recognize Dix Hills, Huntington and Long Island as the Home of John Coltrane. This place is a Long Island gem.” Continues Stein, “His legacy is more than his music. His desire to use music as a force for good, his embracing of diversity, his kindness, and his work ethic and commitment to excellence set an inspirational model for all of us.”

The Home is also a national gem. In 2011, the National Trust for Historic Preservation designated the Home as one of the “Eleven-most Endangered Properties” in the United States, a designation only given to properties deemed to have critical cultural importance. Since that time, the “Friends” have made many improvements to stabilize and repair the Home, but much more needs to be done. The Coltrane Day Event will provide an opportunity for the Home to announce a major capital campaign to create a Cultural Center on the beautiful site.

The dual mission. The Coltrane Home has a dual mission: a) restore the Dix Hills Home and create a state-of-the art museum and inspirational learning and cultural center at the site, along with a beautiful park environment, and b) develop its Legacy Education Project to help encourage young people to engage in the creative music making process, and improve communication and life skills. The theme of the program is “Music for Life”.

2017 also marks the 52nd anniversary of the Town of Huntington and the Huntington Arts Council’s Summer Arts Festival, and is testament to the importance of Huntington’s commitment to arts and music.  The Huntington Arts Council is assisting The Coltrane Home in Dix Hills to present the Music Festival. The day’s program is also partially funded by a Suffolk County Community Arts grant from the Department of Economic Development and Planning.

The Coltrane Home in Dix Hills hopes to attract all members of the Long Island community and beyond to this event. As Alice Coltrane has intimated in the past, this is about bringing everyone together to make, and enjoy music.

Phil Varca & The SlamJammers Bring Their Passionate Rockin’ Blues To Stages Across NY And Beyond

Phil Varca & The SlamJammers Bring Their Passionate Rockin’ Blues To Stages Across NY And Beyond

Together for Nearly Three Decades, The Band Has Brought Their Raw, Guitar-Driven Grooves to Both Suspecting and Unsuspecting Audiences Winning Over Crowds with Their Energy and BIG Sound

June, 2017 (Long Island, NY) — This Summer, audiences across New York will be treated to the thunderously soulful, dynamic, and gut-busting blues rock of Phil Varca & The SlamJammers as they power through almost thirty years of bringing music to the masses! Soon, the rest of the Northeast will have their opportunity to be “Jammerized”!!  The band are excited to announce they have joined The Wing Agency stable of performing artists. The Clinton, CT based agency, lead by Andy Morrison, provides Artists, Venues and Corporate Clients in the Northeast U.S. with booking services for musical acts of all genres. Their services include: Booking touring acts for major music venues, nightclubs, and corporate events. The Wing Agency maintains a professional and referral relationship with numerous artists and venues throughout the northeast U.S.

While PVSJ have played thousands of shows of all types/sizes over the years, the past few years have been focused primarily on festivals and support/opening slots for established national touring acts including: Robin Trower, Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa, Chris Duarte, Dave Mason, NRBQ, Double Trouble, Shemekia Copeland and Popa Chubby.

Phil Varca & The SlamJammers are a powerful trio that continue to thrill audiences with their brand of hard rockin’ blues. The group can rock thunderously with driving rhythms that will shake you out of your seat then quickly downshift and display sensitive, evocative playing with their soulful emoting. Audiences identify and respond to this energy. For them, it is truly a cathartic experience.

Dynamic songwriting and performances have earned the band praise from critics such as Skope Magazine, who noted: “Make no mistake – Phil Varca and company are very interesting and a little dangerous. [They] have offered the world a cutting edge glimpse of this amazing style of music.” and The Island Ear, who wrote; “Guitarist Phil Varca is clearly a descendent of the Hendrix/Vaughan tribe, but his outstanding skill and technique have allowed him to forge a style all his own….any who watch and listen are immediately swept along for the ride.”  Rock & Roll View stated: “How shall I sum up the sound of Phil Varca & The SlamJammers for you? How about ground breaking? Don’t underestimate these guys for one second! Trust me when I say there are legions of fans waiting for this guy to arrive. This CD may be the most impressionable playing style (Especially guitar) I’ve heard this year.”  Good Times magazine added; “Varca charms you with throaty vocals…..in addition to masterful guitar playing.”

Performing together since 1989, the band’s live shows have become one of their greatest assets. Extended improvisational jams and musical interplay have come to define the group’s live performances and reflect their experience. They are a solid working unit that consistently delivers. The Musicians Exchange also noted; “…..the trio displays a finely tuned ability to listen to and play off of each other so that the interplay of musical ideas is a constant flow.”

“There’s nothin’ I like more than opening for an act and playing to a crowd that is there to see someone else. Their people don’t know you & they don’t owe you! We only get one chance to make a first impression…so I love playing for those people …turning them on to our music for the first time & seeing their reaction!” – Phil Varca

In May of ’92, Phil Varca & The SlamJammers released “Lightning & Thunder”, an original five-song collection. Based on the strength of the collection, the band was chosen to appear at The New York Music Seminar in 1992 and the 1993 South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas. 1997 brought the first full-length release titled “Ready, Willing and Able” on Groove Tone Sound Recordings. The track “Skin on Skin” was featured in the movie “Evil Streets”, a horror cult classic which debuted in 1998. 2004 saw the release of “Live at Riverhead” – recorded live (naturally!!) at the 2002 Riverhead Blues Festival in Riverhead N.Y. Plans are underway to re-release some earlier recordings currently out of print & sought after by fans. The band is also writing and rehearsing new material slated for future release and have several east coast and south-east dates planned for 2017/18.

So to catch the band doing what they do best, make sure to check their website for live show dates, and stay tuned for new music on the horizon!

Set in Thailand, Bardo Blues follows Jack as he struggles to learn the truth about the mother that abandoned him and his own reason for existing. Marcia Kimpton has produced and directed a number of successful web series, TV pilots and short films. With “Brado Blues” being her first feature film, it has already been submitted to a number of of other film festivals in 2017.

“Planet M” was Kimpton’s short film directorial debut in which she acted, produced, and wrote the screenplay of the dark comedy that captures a late night host in a downward spiral into the depths of reality TV. Given the rise of content satirizing reality TV, Marcia created a continuing web series with the characters from the film that is going into it’s third season. Kimpton also created a pilot for the TV series “An American in Amsterdam” which is currently being pitched to Dutch networks.

She’s studied with the Lee Strausberg Actor’s studio and NYU’s film program in New York City, and has traveled to more than 40 countries, studied at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, and continued her extensive studies in meditation and yoga.

With such an accomplished writer/director behind the helm and an incredibly engaging story blending the cold realities of failure and the troubles of someone’s own mind, Bardo Blues is a film not to be missed at the Eighth Annual SOHO International Film Festival’s Closing Night, Wednesday, June 21st!

Brooke Moriber Releases New Single “99 Days of Rain”

Multi-Talented Singer/Songwriter/Broadway & TV Actress Debuts Poignant New Track Recorded in The Mecca of Country Music

Recent Still of Brooke Moriber from the Video Shoot for “99 Days of Rain”

Having had an incredible past few months which kicked off with her release of “For The Gold” ft. the Disney Channel and America’s Got Talent Hip Hop sensation Sky Katz on St. Patrick’s Day, singer/songwriter Brooke Moriber has released yet another brand new single “99 Days of Rain” which will also be included in her soon-to-be released EP “Here And Gone”.

Recorded in Nashville and co-written with hit songwriters Brian Desveaux and Bill DiLuigi, “99 Days of Rain” is a bit of a departure from some of Brooke’s more pop-driven releases in the past, with a more somber, impassioned tinge that gives a more stripped-down feeling further revealing Moriber’s incredible vocal ability.

With lyrics like “I’m sinking in shadows, reaching up for your light // How deep can the sea go, it’s hardest at night” she continues “I’m long gone, there’s a hole in the boat and I just might drown in a sad song, and never see the sun again”. The refrain brings those earnest feelings even more to the forefront, as she bellows “99 days, 99 days of rain all over me // Every cloud is broken, when’s it gonna soak in? // 99 days, 99 days of rain keeps showing me // The heart can break 100 ways in 99 days of rain”. With subtle but ambient slide-guitar work and a clear country-esque twang, it is both powerful and wrought with emotion.

A native New Yorker, Moriber has been critically acclaimed for her “clarion voice” by the Associated Press and songs that are “destined for high rotation”. Her distinctive sound ranges in influences from Linda Ronstadt to Amy Lee.

Brooke’s unique career started on the Broadway stage where she earned a reputation for her powerhouse vocals and has received special mention by the New York Times for her acting abilities.

Since the age of fifteen, Brooke has been writing and licensing her own original pop/country/rock music to network television and several soundtracks. Brooke’s remarkable ability to juggle her career as a recording artist and an actor has found her sharing the stage and screen with such performers as The Gin Blossoms, Cindy Lauper, Alan Cumming, Lily Taylor and Kristin Johnston.

Brooke’s latest EP from Nashville “Here And Gone” is soon to be released through the Sony distribution company The Orchard.

With both the new EP on the way along with a video premiere to accompany her new single, you can check out “99 Days of Rain” today and hear what the music world has been buzzing about!
