Table arrangement (1) (1).jpg

November, 2016 (Long Island, NY) — For well over a decade, Lori-Girl Creations and its Founder and President Lori Miller have been the go-to Interior Design Company, providing a exquisite and high-end look for a shoestring budget. Since its founding, Lori-Girl has helped a diverse group of clientele to achieve their visions. Now, Miller has the opportunity to use her talents to help a great cause as well.

As a chosen sponsor of this year’s American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge NYC Holiday Bash Gala, It seems that Lori’s reputation as an exceptional interior designer has been rightly recognized. Each table at the event will elaborately represent a theme created by top designers like Miller who will translate their interpretation of the Hope Lodge experience. Along with this, a silent auction will take place, and musical entertainment and program remarks (including those by a Hope Lodge guest) will round out the evening. With an interest from several luxury publications and the finest financial, automotive, design, cosmetics and fashion brands as event sponsors for this year’s gala, it is clear that attending is quite an opportunity.

The Holiday Bash raises funds for Hope Lodge NYC, which provides an environment that focuses on healing for those who are battling cancer away from home and has saved families over $40 million in lodging costs alone. Last year, 300 of New York’s socialites and executives attended this gala, raising over $250,000 for the cause. Miller, who has battled cancer herself, is more than ready to take on her responsibilities as a sponsor and designer, creating a tablescape for the event.

Her view is that your environment impacts on your well-being and focusing on small changes can help to create a clear space through conscious choices.

Lori has also co-authored the book Feng Sh…What? The Basic Rules of Good Design with Julie Hernandez, a licensed therapist. This is the first book written in dialogue format which explains the decorating process. With an easy-going conversational manner, they take you on a journey that explores the unique relationship between personality and design. It is a colorful, picture-filled book which provides you with step-by-step instructions, checklists, design ideas, a color test and advice to help you gain insight into your own unique personality & style.

ABOUT THE FAIR:

Arts on Terry Street is a collaborative effort of the Patchogue Arts Council, Inc. and Artspace Patchogue Lofts. It was conceived two years ago in a meeting with Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri; Village Trustee Lori Devlin, who is also president of the Patchogue Arts Council; and Artspace Resident Dave Rogers to create an event that would highlight the best art that Patchogue has to offer and to bring other organizations from all of Long Island to assemble an art fair with a twist – a big art fair feel on a smaller scale that would take place on and around Terry Street, the heart of the arts in Patchogue, and home to Artspace Patchogue, the Patchogue Arts Council, Inc., and the Plaza Cinema and Media Arts Center, as well as a beautifully landscaped park.

After a couple of meetings to work out the details of how to organize the event, the Patchogue Arts Council and artists in Artspace Patchogue came together to create the first ever street fair of this kind in the Village of Patchogue. Though the fair will have the usual tents set up like many art fairs around Long Island, there will be a few additions here in Patchogue, including indoor exhibits at both the Patchogue Arts Council and Artspace Patchogue. The exhibit at the arts council’s gallery will be its yearly member exhibit, PatchWorks, and Artspace will present two exhibits in its lobby gallery. One will be a small sculpture exhibit titled “Objects Assembled” curated by Lisa Di Stefano, a resident of Artspace; and the other will be the first ever National Artspace Artists Run Exhibit curated by Dave Rogers and featuring works by artists from Artspace buildings across the country.

New York Interior Designer Takes Inspiration From The Hardest of Places as Employee of NYS Prison System

Having Overcome A Number of Personal and Professional Obstacles Herself, Lori-Girl Creations Founder Lori Miller Uses Some of Her Toughest Experiences As Motivation for Creativity

April, 2016 (Long Island, NY) — For well over a decade, Lori-Girl Creations and its Founder and President Lori Miller have been THE Interior Design Company that can give you exquisite and high-end looks for a shoestring budget. But Miller’s unique talent of transforming spaces for residential and commercial clients alike to help them achieve their specific vision comes from a combination of unlikely places- from the situations she’s overcome, to the corrections facility at which she’s been employed for over 10 years.

It isn’t every day that you hear of a joyfully artistic and creative mind – one that helps so many people to see the true beauty of their living or work space – spending a great deal of time behind the walls of a much harder, colder, and often bleecker daily reality: Rikers Island. But such is the case for Lori Miller, who’s been able to overcome some of her greatest obstacles by turning to her passion for helping others. Though she chose her career in the prison system, other roadblocks from divorce to a number of medical setbacks and diagnoses which would be severe blows to the resolve of many only empowered and strengthened her vision to do what she loved.

Initially starting out with a Masters Degree in Counseling, Lori covered the full spectrum of this field. Working with a variety of populations she eventually landed a Unit Chief position in the psychiatric ward of NY’s largest prison system using her own emboldening life experiences to help those in need of reform. During this time, she accepted a part-time position in a wallpaper store while decorating her own house.  Pursuing her lifelong dream of painting and working in the arts, and looking for a reprieve from the severity of life, this catapulted her talents and creativity.  Full steam ahead Lori knew that to enter the field of Design she would have to return to school. While receiving a Degree in Interior Design, with honors, she gathered the necessary experience working with various products, in showrooms, and with other Interior Designers.

Miller founded Lori-Girl Creations, Inc. in 2000, and now holds degrees in both Interior Design and Psychology. She has been featured in various publications and in a variety of media segments both nationally and locally.

Lori believes that through her training in Feng Shui, Reiki, Native American Studies, Counseling, and Interior Design she can assist people in making positive lifestyle changes. Her view is that your environment impacts on your well-being and focusing on small changes can help to create a clear space through conscious choices.

Lori has also co-authored the book Feng Sh…What? The Basic Rules of Good Design with Julie Hernandez, a licensed therapist. It is a colorful, picture-filled book which provides you with step-by-step instructions, checklists, design ideas, a color test and advice to help you gain insight into your own unique personality & style.

With such a unique story, Lori Miller is a true testament to the power of perseverance, following your passions, and overcoming hardships. And now that Spring has sprung, Lori-Girl Creations provides the perfect opportunity for those looking to breathe new life into their commercial or living space through conceptual planning, aesthetic and technical solutions.

April, 2016 (New York, NY) — It takes a great deal to be not only extremely versatile in today’s music industry, but to have the passion, drive and entrepreneurial spirit to take fans by storm, and with her self-titled debut EP and powerful live performances- NY recording artist Corvaa has done just that! Combining genres from pop music to dance, electronica, and house music, she’s able take art and evolve it to suit her unique tone/voice. With her new single “Zipper” OUT NEXT WEEK on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Rhapsody, Google Play and various other online platforms along with two shows coming up Wednesday, April 13th at Astoria’s Melrose Ballroom and Wednesday, May 4th at Revolution Bar & Music Hall in Amityville for a Live TV Taping on Verizon FiOS1’s Rick’s Rising Stars; you’ll have your chance to see this creative talent in action!

SAMPLE “ZIPPER” ON SOUNDCLOUD HERE: http://www.soundcloud.com/Corvaa/zipper-corvaa

Corvaa, the chameleon vocalist, is twenty-eight and a full time entrepreneur. Originally born in Piraeus, Greece she was adopted and raised on Long Island, NY. Re-starting her musical journey in 2013, her initial recordings were all rough, raw, & recorded out of her house through a cell phone. Each time she would sing, the recording was uploaded directly onto Soundcloud. While doing so was a risk, she focused on her talent being showcased vs the quality of the files. Fast forward to present day, and that risk seems to have paid off immensely: with 50,000+ plays on Soundcloud, 10,000+ followers on Instagram & 5,000+ likes on FB, the music industry has taken notice of Corvaa, the artist.

As her following continues to grow, the star yearns to put out quality vocals with beats that pack a punch! Her debut EP disc can be heard on Itunes, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play, CD Baby, and tons of other platforms, and in her own words, she’s said of the monumental undertaking “Knowing I have my own disc of music in under a year puts me at a loss for words. I want to take a moment to personally thank each and every fan out there who continues to support & spread the good word. A quote I live by and have taken so literally it’s tattooed on me: Believe, for anything is possible.”

On her quest for stardom Corvaa realized with bold certainty “I want an empire.”, and in order to create this empire, she would need the right people around her. It takes any artist the right team to achieve their goals, but what brings it all home is Loyalty, and because of this- Team Corvaa was composed of talented artists that reside around the tri-state area, acting as extended family to the singer. At the head of this team is the talented Mark Johnston, who acts as her business partner.

With her music having been supported by Party 105.3 FM, WKRB 90.3, Z88.9, Party 103, Harrah’s Pool After Dark, and Sizzahandz of Crooklyn Clan- its reached over 100 countries and is currently featured on MTV’s Website: www.mtv.com/artists/corvaa. Her hit single ‘In and Out of Love’ has been heard around the country in NYC’s Highland Ballroom, Stage 48 and Tokya, as well as on the West Coast in California’s Heat Ultra Lounge and countless other cities in between!

With so much in store for this extraordinary vocalist, entrepreneur, and creative force including her recently released single “Zipper”- you won’t want to miss your chance to catch her LIVE Wednesday, April 13th at Astoria’s Melrose Ballroom and Wednesday, May 4th at Revolution Bar & Music Hall in Amityville for a TV Taping of Rick’s Rising Stars on Verizon FiOS1!
