Oogee Wawa Taking to The Emporium Stage With Sublime Tribute, Heading Off to FL and The Virgin Islands for Island Hopper Tour, and Rockin’ NYC’s Pianos and Gramercy Theatre

Long Island’s Premier Alternative Reggae/Hip-hop Act Hitting the Stage With Famed Sublime Tribute Yet Again, Then Packing Their Bags for Fun and Sun, and Back to NYC in 2016

Patchogue, NY (December, 2015) — With one last show in 2015 Friday, 12/18 alongside famed Sublime Tribute Badfish, Long Island’s Oogee Wawa – who made history headlining The Paramount in Huntington, NY to a roaring crowd of over 1,200 in late September as the first unsigned headliners to rock the venue – will be heading for warmer climates in 2016! Their Island Hopper Tour will hit venues in FL and The Virgin Islands starting January 7th in Fort Myers, “hopping” to St. Johns & St. Thomas, and concluding 1/20 in Jupiter, FLA to kickstart the new year, and they’ll round it out with NYC shows at Pianos 1/30 and Gramercy Theatre in March with Common Kings! (Full List of Upcoming Dates Below)

Having played with the likes of Slightly Stoopid, SOJA, Sublime with Rome, The Dirty Heads, The Wailers, Badfish, Ballyhoo!, Passafire, rocking the 2015 Beer Fields Craft Beer & Music Festival alongside Collie Buddz, and hitting the road with a touring schedule of over 200 shows a year, Oogee released their second LP “More Sand Than Money” this past April. After rocking with 311, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and The Green at The Great South Bay Music Festival this past July and the Long Beach International Film Festival’s “Taste On the Beach” in August, the band also filmed a LIVE taping of “Rick’s Rising Stars”  at Revolution Bar & Music Hall which aired on Verizon Fios Channel 1! Continuing with more Long Island performances and a weekend stop over in Ocean City, MD in early September, the band filmed an episode of “Live It Up!” with Donna Drake at IndiMusic TV Studios and did an interview with Orlando at 94.3 The Shark promoting their Paramount headliner, and even rocked NYC’s famed The Bitter End in earlier this month.

With a recent endorsement from Korg USA and a new video for hit single “Feelin’ Alive Today” released via Raised Fist Propaganda, the band that seems to make the live music stage a second home still has a ton in store!

Before officially starting Oogee Wawa- MC Jesse Lee Roenbeck of Centereach, JP Aceto on guitar and vocals of Baiting Hollow, Chad Chadwick on bass of Selden, and Nick Loiodice on drums and vocals of Smithtown were friends just messing around playing the bar scene so many Long Island musicians know and clamor to on nights and weekends to get a little bit of that adrenaline pumping, big-or-small crowd cheering rush that comes with performing live. Forming in 2008, the band began playing consistent shows to ever-growing crowds before the release of their first LP- 2012’s “Ride Waves”, and as their momentum got going they quickly became the island’s in-demand alternative reggae act from Long Beach to Montauk.

Garnering praise from the likes of  Long Island Press, Chilled Magazine, I Am Entertainment Magazine, Arena.com, and West Coast Reggae-Rock-Acoustic hotspot ThePier.org who stated on their recent release “Oogee Wawa’s sophomore release is a good one, and they obviously have the potential to become a breakout band in the industry”, Oogee began touring Nationally and spreading their good vibes on both East and West Coasts. In an interview with the Long Island Pulse, the band has aid of themselves “We have gotten a lot of love in the rising reggae rock scene and we take a lot of pride in that. We are working very hard to build up this family of bands from all over the East Coast”. A recent Anti-Pitchfork feature even stated “Not only have Oogee Wawa tapped into something the majority of New Yorkers seem to like, they are hard working players, performing every week and pumping out new material faster than anyone else”.

As Creative Control Magazine recently put it- “To hold a successful party, you need loud, invigorating music that will fulfill the host’s one requirement: to keep the party going all night long. To complete this mission, there’s no better band than Oogee Wawa”. Its safe to say that they accomplished this mission a few times over with their headlining debut at The Paramount as the first unsigned act, potentially paving the way for future independent artists/bands to make the stride! And as their tour schedule brings them more momentum in these Fall and soon-to-be Winter months, it seems Oogee Wawa will continue to break new ground as they perform for bigger and bigger audiences.

You won’t want to miss your chance to catch the band everyone seems to be talking about as they rock their last show of 2015 Friday, 12/18 at The Emporium, Patchogue NY with Badfish and head into 2016 for the Island Hopper Tour, and shows at NYC’s Pianos and Gramercy Theatre!

Songwriter/Artist and Record Producer Continues Stride After Success with Josh X, Jadakiss

New York, NY (December, 2015) — On the heels of recent success with Josh X and Jadakiss having been included on “Talk About It”, Queens Hip-Hop Artist Geez Got Girls Going (GGGG) has been making waves from performances with hit DJ’s to appearances on Hot 97 and more! It seems the streets are buzzing with excitement for the up-and-comer as he works on releasing the follow-up to his debut mix-tape and continues to rep’ the city he calls home- NYC. But you can catch him hitting the stage to perform his new single “Hit You Back” on Thursday, December 31st at Genesis Lounge– 575 Nesconset Hwy, Hauppauge, NY 11788!

James Lampadusa, better known as GGGG (GeezGotGirlsGoing) is a Hip-Hop Recording Artist/Songwriter and Record Producer who represents Queens, New York to the fullest. Born of Haitian and Italian descent, Geez began his journey into music at the tender age of 7 playing drums and creating beats, but began heading down a bad path as a youth, later dropping out of school and winding up in a life of crime. After an arrest at age 15, he’d come to a cross-roads and decided that he wanted to focus his full consciousness on the dream he’d left behind- music.

With determination and grit, Geez began to align himself with some of the most respected executives and musicians in today’s entertainment industry where his underlying desire for success began to blossom, and he would focus only on writing and producing full time.

Quickly separating himself from his competition, he began taking notes on writing/producing from his cousin and R&B Singer Josh Xantus ( Josh X) who’d already been making waves in the music scene having been co-signed by the legendary Stevie Wonder early in his career. His first song which he co-wrote for Josh was titled “No Love”, and though it was never released- it proved a spring-board for the young star who would go on to be featured on “Talk About It” by Josh X, also featuring Jadakiss, which was released earlier this year. Having toured extensively with Josh X making several appearances on well known Hip-hop and R&B radio stations including famed NY station Hot 97, the video for “Talk About It” even premiered on World Star Hip Hop- the #1 urban outlet for breaking the hottest new artists nationwide.

A self proclaimed “King” and “Leader”, GGGG recently began promoting his new clothing company entitled “Geez Got Girls Going” which was inspired from all the love that he gets from his female fans. Continuing to go hard building his reputation in all 5 boroughs and the tri-state area, Geez is currently working on his second mixtape “Geez Too Fly For Words” and has played a number of recent shows from Le Souk Restaurant & Lounge in Manhattan to his last CD Release at Play Lounge in Queens, NY with Power 105’s DJ Suss One.

With an upcoming New Year’s Eve performance of his hit single  “Hit You Back” on the horizon at Genesis Lounge Hosted by Kaylin Garcia along with Troy Ave & Friends, DJ Self, and DJ Allstar…..Geez’s ruthless flow, rugged but passionate lyrics, and determination to continue learning and growing in his knowledge of music and the industry behind it make him an unstoppable force in Hip Hop. But to see for yourself and follow Geez’ success into 2016, you can join him Thursday, December 31st at Genesis Lounge, 575 Nesconset Hwy, Hauppauge, NY!

With Songz having made his way to several NYC and Long Island hot-spots for exclusive appearances, tastings, and bottle signings promoting the brand earlier this past Summer, there seems to be a whole lot in store for the brand delivering “the ultimate taste experience”.

2015 is looking like a banner year for SX, with 300% growth in revenue creating exciting momentum for 2016. After a successful Walmart test market in Louisiana, SX has secured distribution in a number of Walmart stores in Florida as well. The Virginia Liquor Board have recognized the power of their home grown star–Trey Songz– and awarded SX 100 stores with product getting on shelves in time for the Holidays! In New York, SX and Trey Songz have commenced a powerful relationship with the Strategic Group, which launched distribution and events at the Dream Hotel, Phd, Marquee, and Avenue. “We have finished the year strongly and have paved the way to a fast start in 2016, we have a very exciting year ahead of us” says David Knight the CEO and Founder of SX.

SX has been rapidly expanding since announcing the partnership with Trey Songz on Valentine’s Day this year. The “S” in SX’s name stands for Sensual while the “X” comes from eXotic, and the drinks and contoured bottles from which they pour are both.  The SX spirits range includes two tequilas, two rums, and two vodkas, all made in Mexico with a variety of barrel aging and infusions giving them a unique and softer taste ideal for the female palette.

With Songz promoting the brand he’s called “very special, sexy, fun, and magical”, the singer came to the forefront in 2005 releasing five albums within the first decade of his career, peaking in the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 Chart, and having 15 solo singles hit the Top 10 of the Hot R&B/Hip-hop chart. As one of the few R&B artists sustaining mainstream status, he’s collaborated with his main inspiration- R. Kelly, along with a slew of other in-demand names from Diddy, Mary J. Blige, and Scarface to Bun B. and Toni Braxton.

Long Island Author and Teacher Releases Thrilling Tale of Hidden Secrets and Revenge, Gearing Up for Book Signing at Huntington’s Famed Book Revue

Donating a Portion of Proceeds to the Long Island Epilepsy Foundation!!!

Joe Beck’s “Suburban Sins” Brings Mystery & Suspense To New Levels in Gripping Novel

Long Island, New York (November, 2015) — Sometimes being the smartest one in the room can be the best advantage towards working for a specific goal- but not when that brilliance is tinged with evil and that goal is revenge. Such is the case in “Suburban Sins”, the new novel by veteran author, teacher and biographer Joe Beck currently available via Amazon, who is coming to Huntington, NY’s Book Revue, 313 New York Ave, Monday, December 14th at 7:00PM. Join us for an evening with the author, his book, wine, cheese and crackers, and refreshments! The Author will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the evening to the Long Island Epilepsy Foundation, so you can enjoy a great event and help support a great cause!

More About “Suburban Sins”:

Andrew Benson has a plan. A nursing student at one of the best hospitals in New York State, Andrew is the smartest one there and he knows it. He has a long and sordid history with this hospital, and he’s here for revenge – if he can make it through without attracting too much attention. And no one notices him more than the object of his affections, his teacher the lead doctor, Dr. Kathy Silvey. However, she doesn’t notice him in the way he wants, making his job a touch more difficult, especially with the aid of her boyfriend, Officer Ken Hill. Ken Hill is a man with secrets, both on and off the job. He tries to do right by his family, despite his gambling problem and debt, and when relatively healthy patients at his girlfriend’s hospital – including her grandfather – start dying, he promises to find out who is responsible. She already has a suspect in mind: that off-putting nursing student sending her chapters of his novel and claiming they have a connection, Andrew Benson. But there isn’t enough evidence to convict Benson, so Hill must catch him in the act. However, with bills coming due both on and off the books, plus a huge gamble that could lose Hill his career, his family, and possibly his life, he must scramble to save everyone, and everything, that’s important to him. He might even make a new friend along the way.

Joe Beck has written, co-authored and collaborated on 12 books, from fiction novels, to non-fiction to how to books. During the last 25 years, he’s written for national and international trade and consumer magazines and newspapers. His work has taken him across North America, Central America, Europe, Japan and Africa. Though often traveling extensively on assignments, he calls Long Island, New York home. Born to a Navy pilot and a singer, Joe was born on a Navy base in Pensacola, Florida, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, and since then he’s lived in Virginia Beach, Yokohama and Atsugi, Japan, Monterey, San Diego and New York as well as traveling to East Africa on safari and to Europe. Joe particularly enjoys working on biographies, and he’s interviewed Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, actors, entertainers and politicians such as Hector Elizondo, Brian Dennehy, Sweet Georgia Brown, Paula Poundstone, Margaret Cho, NYC Mayoral candidate Fernando Ferrer, Billy Joel, Dee Snyder and many others.

As yet another new voice in the Mystery & Suspense genre, Beck’s is undoubtedly a loud one. Weaving a nuance of believability and excitement into this provocative thriller, “Suburban Sins” will bring any reader on a suspenseful ride following the hero, the villain, their secrets, and the innocent bystanders in the wake of it all! And you can have your chance to read for yourself, speak with the author, and get your signed copy Monday, December 14th, 7:00PM at Book Revue, 313 New York Ave, Huntington, NY 11743!

Mark Newman–Accomplished Singer/Songwriter and Sideman to The Legends–Continues Stride with Upcoming Dates In Tokyo, Connecticut, NY, and PA

Having Recently Opened For The Eagles’ Don Felder and Bluesman Delbert McClinton- He’ll Rock The Blue Note in Tokyo, Brooklyn Bowl in NYC, and more!

November, 2015 (Miami Beach, FLA) — For the talented Mark Newman– playing with some of the biggest names in music history is nothing new. With a familiar classic sound bellowing with originality yet reminiscent of so many soul, blues, and rock greats of our time, the singer/songwriter/guitarist brings tones of familiarity yet originality in his new EP “Brussels”, out this past March on Danal Music. Having been on the road with with greats like John Oates (Hall and Oates), Jim McCarty (The Yardbirds), Willy DeVille, Sam The Sham, and Sam Moore himself; many of their influences can be heard on the new album, recorded in the in the Belgian capital baring the same name, which can be purchased via iTunes and CD Baby. With a number of live dates already behind him in the past year, notably NYC’s B.B. King’s for the Delbert McClinton Birthday Show and The Space at Westbury opening for Don Felder, he’ll be playing a number of new dates in the coming weeks/months including The Blue Note in Tokyo, Japan December 2nd-4th, Brooklyn Bowl on December 6th and more continuing into 2016! (Full Schedule Below)

A New York native, Newman’s musical prowess has taken him around the world several times over, playing with an eclectic mix of noted musical talents from Sting to Elvis Costello, and Travis Tritt as well as his own solo work. A multi stringsman, Mark has mastered electric/acoustic/lap steel guitar as well as the mandolin and dobro, and with a voice reminiscent of many rock and bluesmen before him- it has the familiarity of an old friend yet the power and soul of many of today’s rock, soul, folk and R&B icons. For over five years, Newman and fellow songwriter Naomi Margolin have run the “Music From the Hive”  Singer/Songwriter Series, and for the past two years- “The Original Music Series” for bands, in an attempt to keep original music alive on Long Island. Newman also records and produces local artists in the Long Island/NYC area.

He’s said of some of his mentors: “You’d have to be an idiot not to learn from the guys I’ve had the honor of playing with,” adding “Hey, Sam The Sham didn’t just write ‘Wooly Bully.’ He wrote some of the best blues songs I ever heard. And Sam Moore’s almost 80 yet sings like he’s 25. He taught me not to over-think, just open your mouth and let it go. I don’t know if I’ve even come close to doing this but what I do know is what I’ve learned from those three is invaluable.”

Having released “Walls of Jericho” in 2010, the album is filled with intricate guitar work and mixed with a plethora of sounds from hard rock to a lighter more Dylanesque folk tinge, but this style comes even more to the forefront on “Brussels”. The new live acoustic-driven EP packs a bluesy punch reminiscent of Clapton’s “Unplugged” album through both the guitar work and raw vocal power. On the first track “Mean Season (Lucille, Lucille)”, Newman bellows “I waited til’ dawn, see if the sun will shine when you’re gone // You turn away, I just can’t stay where I don’t belong” and like many early bluesmen before him, you can hear the soulful longing and strife in his voice. With the brilliant slide-guitar work in “Dead Man’s Shoes” we’re easily transported in our minds to the West in the era of outlaws and cowboy boots, and in “Must Be A Pony” reminded about the power of a child’s enthusiasm and the efforts not to lose it as time goes by.

Upcoming Shows:

WednesdayFriday, December 2-4th @ Blue Note Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan (Sam Moore)

Sunday, December 6th @ Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn, NY (Sailin’ Shoes)

Sunday, December 13, 2 pm @ The Viking for Joe Vicino’s Annual Toy Drive, Islip, NY

Thursday, February 4th w/ Sailin’ Shoes- A Tribute to Little Feat

@ The Space at Westbury, Westbury, NY

In an age of technology with the power of easy editing techniques at the touch of a button, it can be reassuring to know that a musician can still pack a punch with raw talent as a songwriter and overall accomplished performer, and Mark Newman’s live EP “Brussels” along with his carefully crafted live shows do just that.

IN THE SHADOW OF WOMEN

Wednesday, January 6th 2016

Directed by: Philippe Garrel. France, 2015, 73 min. In French with English subtitles.

The new film by the great Philippe Garrel (Regular Lovers, Jealousy) is a close look at infidelity—not merely the fact of it, but the particular, divergent ways in which it’s experienced and understood by men and women. Stanislas Merhar and Clotilde Courau star as Pierre and Manon, a married couple working in fragile harmony on Pierre’s documentary film projects, the latest of which is a portrait of a Resistance fighter (Jean Pommier). When Pierre takes a lover (Lena Paugam), he feels entitled to do so, and he treats both wife and mistress with a disengagement bordering on disdain. However when Manon catches Pierre in the act, her immediate response is to find common ground with her husband. Garrel is an artist of intimacies and emotional ecologies, and with In the Shadow of Women he has added narrative intricacy and intrigue to his toolbox. The result is an exquisite jewel of a film.

“Exquisite” – Variety

“Elegantly engaging! Effortlessly evokes the world of Eric Rohmer and Francois Truffaut” – Screen International

“A work of considerable feeling and intensity.” – The Hollywood Reporter
