Rick Eberle Agency Artists & Bands Set To Rock the 7th Annual Montauk Music Festival

Alternative Reggae/Hip-Hop All-Stars Oogee Wawa, Lyrical Jam-Rockers Gnarly Karma, and Singer/Songwriter Mark Newman All Gearing Up to Play May 19th-22nd at Various Venues On Long Island’s East End

May, 2016 (Montauk, NY) — With the Montauk Music Festival gearing up for an exciting 7th year May 19th-22nd it has been announced that THREE Rick Eberle Public Relations bards/artists are set to rock the 30+ bars, restaurants, and venues included throughout Long Island’s legendary East End hamlet! Oogee Wawa, Gnarly Karma, and Mark Newman will be among the 100+ artists in this year’s festival presented by the Montauk Sun which boasts a wide variety of musical styles from alternative rock, folk, pop, Americana, reggae, blues, jazz and bluegrass to flamenco, rap, hip-hop, country, metal and more! JUST ADDED – our friends Bunktown Falls will also be performing on Friday May 20th at 12 Midnight @ The Point too!

The Montauk Music Festival is a volunteer-run, grassroots live music event designed to celebrate, support, and promote the thriving Montauk music scene while showcasing and stimulating the burgeoning artistic, commercial and pedestrian activity in Montauk. The festival would not be possible without the generous support by businesses and individuals who, like the festival organizers, are dedicated to nurturing this vital component of the area’s culture. Past performers include: Urban Sun, One Love, The Folkadelics, Love In Stockholm, Split Tongue Crow, Jonathan Fritz, Zap & The Naturals, Chris Merritt, Otis, Eleanor Dubinsky, Oogee Wawa (returning for another great year), Kaydi Johnson, Swamp Cabbage and many more.

Firstly, with their recent return from the Island Hopper Tour which saw them hit stops in Florida and the U.S. Virgin Islands spreading their Hip-hop infused reggae vibes along the way, 2016 has been an exciting year for Oogee Wawa. Having played in the past with the likes of Slightly Stoopid, SOJA, Sublime with Rome, The Dirty Heads, The Wailers, Badfish, Ballyhoo!, Passafire, rocking the 2015 Beer Fields Craft Beer & Music Festival alongside Collie Buddz, and hitting the road with a touring schedule of over 200 shows a year, Oogee released their second LP “More Sand Than Money” in April of 2015. After rocking with 311, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and The Green at The Great South Bay Music Festival this past July and the Long Beach International Film Festival’s “Taste On the Beach” in August, they filmed a LIVE taping of “Rick’s Rising Stars”  at Revolution Bar & Music Hall which aired on Verizon Fios Channel 1 and made history headlining The Paramount in Huntington, NY to a roaring crowd of over 1,200 in late September 2015 as the first unsigned headliners to rock the venue! Continuing with more Long Island performances and a stop over in Ocean City, MD in early September, the band filmed an episode of “Live It Up!” with Donna Drake at IndiMusic TV  Studios and did an interview with Orlando at 94.3 The Shark promoting their Paramount headliner, and even rocked NYC’s famed The Bitter End in December. As they gear up for more live dates this Summer, they’ll be a welcomed returning act and crowd favorite at this year’s MTK Music Fest!

Secondly, having recently been featured on Reverbnation.com’s “CROWD PICKS”, Eastern Surf Magazine’s On the Record, premiered their video for “Grey Street” (Dave Matthews Band Cover) via Elmore Magazine, AND been mentioned in a recent New York Times article regarding their studio: Montclair Records – Long Island’s own Gnarly Karma seem to be spreading their good vibes to bigger and bigger audiences as they head further into 2016! With their debut album “Classic Breeze”- released via iTunes last September – as the catalyst for their recent growth, the group consisting of members Mike Renert (Vocals, Guitar, Harmonica), Jarrod Beyer (Drums, Percussion), Ryan McAdam (Bass), and Billy Hanley (Alto & Tenor Saxophone, Keyboard, BGV’s) brings a wide and varied range of influences to the table equating to their unique sound, which is most often associated with that of Dave Matthews Band, Sublime, and Mumford & Sons, but not restricted by genre. Originally starting in 2012 with Renert and Beyer, McAdam and Hanley later came into the mix having gone to school together with Beyer, who’d also performed with McAdam in Alt band “We Love Radio”. This being the band’s first year rockin’ MTK, they’ll be a welcomed addition to the eclectic mix of music.

Finally, Mark Newman’s musical prowess has taken him around the world several times over, playing with an eclectic mix of noted musical talents from Sting to Elvis Costello, and Travis Tritt as well as his own solo work. A multi stringsman, Mark has mastered electric/acoustic/lap steel guitar as well as the mandolin and dobro, and with a voice reminiscent of many rock and bluesmen before him- it has the familiarity of an old friend yet the power and soul of many of today’s rock, soul, folk and R&B icons which is sure to set the spirit of MTK music lovers aflame. For over five years, Newman and fellow songwriter Naomi Margolin have run the “Music From the Hive” Singer/Songwriter Series, and for the past two years- “The Original Music Series” for bands, in an attempt to keep original music alive on Long Island. Newman also records and produces local artists in the Long Island/NYC area, and recently had the privilege of opening for The Eagles’ Don Felder and Bluesman Delbert McClinton earlier this Fall along with shows at the Blue Note in Tokyo, Japan and Brooklyn Bowl!

With such an amazing group of talented artists and bands represented by REPR getting ready to take to various stages throughout the four momentous days of the 7th Annual Montauk Music Festival May 19th-22nd, this year’s festival is sure to be a hit!

ABOUT THE FAIR:

Arts on Terry Street is a collaborative effort of the Patchogue Arts Council, Inc. and Artspace Patchogue Lofts. It was conceived two years ago in a meeting with Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri; Village Trustee Lori Devlin, who is also president of the Patchogue Arts Council; and Artspace Resident Dave Rogers to create an event that would highlight the best art that Patchogue has to offer and to bring other organizations from all of Long Island to assemble an art fair with a twist – a big art fair feel on a smaller scale that would take place on and around Terry Street, the heart of the arts in Patchogue, and home to Artspace Patchogue, the Patchogue Arts Council, Inc., and the Plaza Cinema and Media Arts Center, as well as a beautifully landscaped park.

After a couple of meetings to work out the details of how to organize the event, the Patchogue Arts Council and artists in Artspace Patchogue came together to create the first ever street fair of this kind in the Village of Patchogue. Though the fair will have the usual tents set up like many art fairs around Long Island, there will be a few additions here in Patchogue, including indoor exhibits at both the Patchogue Arts Council and Artspace Patchogue. The exhibit at the arts council’s gallery will be its yearly member exhibit, PatchWorks, and Artspace will present two exhibits in its lobby gallery. One will be a small sculpture exhibit titled “Objects Assembled” curated by Lisa Di Stefano, a resident of Artspace; and the other will be the first ever National Artspace Artists Run Exhibit curated by Dave Rogers and featuring works by artists from Artspace buildings across the country.

Autism Awareness Carries on Beyond April for Revolutionary Special-Needs-User-Friendly Piano Method

With a Special-Needs-Piano Curriculum on sale at 15% off through April & May and a Recital Planned in Melville, NY in June, Occupational Octaves Piano™ is Helping Those with Autism Spectrum Disorders Experience Real Musicianship every month, every season, and every year!

Long Island, NY (May, 2016) — With April’s Autism Awareness Month behind us, Special Needs Music Educator and Musician Lee Stockner, along with Guy Brogna- Bass Player for several world renowned rock bands and owner of All Music Inc.– are the founders of “Music Lee Inclined Guy, Inc.”, and are keeping the topic in the spotlight with the revolutionary book series Occupational Octaves Piano! OOP is designed for students with Autism and other special needs to be able to easily and effectively play the piano, now with training and certification available for instructors of various backgrounds related to the worlds of Special Education, Music Education, Music Therapy, Occupational Therapy and more. On June 26 at 12:30PM EST, Lee will be hosting a recital at the Steinway Piano Gallery in Melville, NY featuring only students on the Autism Spectrum. It will be carried via live stream on Facebook, YouTube, Periscope and other live streaming platforms, and 15 students with Autism and other special needs are slated to perform!

Since 2004, at least 1 in 68 children have been born with an Autism Spectrum Disorder which causes varied deficiencies among those diagnosed in areas such as speech, communication, socialization, comprehension, living skills, physical strength, balance, emotional expression and more. While the Autism Spectrum is broad and many with this diagnosis are able to achieve great things, these individuals are usually considered “high-functioning,” such as Temple Grandin. Few programs exist that are truly SPECIAL-NEEDS-USER-FRIENDLY, meaning that the students who are considered “low-functioning” can use it as well.

In a groundbreaking manner, Lee Stockner has reinvented the language of music for people with severe disabilities stemming from Autism and other Special Needs so that as never before, virtually anyone who can match colors and letters can become a musician! Occupational Octaves Piano™ is the very first full piano education curriculum written in a Special-Needs-User-Friendly language of music, which was created by the author, and is named Lee Stockner’s Music Box Method™.

David and San Lu Yu of Great Neck, NY are the parents of Brendan, who is 5 years old and diagnosed with Autism. His cognitive and communicative skills are considered ‘low functioning’ and he attends a special school for students with similar issues who also require constant individualized attention, adapted education, and therapy. Although he lacks the skills to properly read traditional music and/or be able to advance with it, he excels at the piano using Lee’s program. 6 months into lessons, David says “Brendan was non-verbal at age 4 when he took his first piano lesson with Lee. He responded incredibly well to Lee’s Occupational Octaves Piano™ system and ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) teaching style. Not only is Brendan now able to play many piano pieces from Occupational Octaves Piano books 1-3 (over 100 pages of material), he develops self-confidence and his attention span every time through getting so many notes right with specific fingers and counting. Each week Brendan looks forward to his lesson and as Special Needs parents, it brings us great joy to see him becoming more communicative and expressive through these lessons. He regularly requests the colored rings, markers, books and specific songs used during lessons. He also loves to sing Old McDonald at the end of every lesson! We see Lee’s program as an important tool for our son in dealing with autism and connecting with the world. Watching Brendan perform beautiful music to the applause of our friends and families is another joy to behold.”

WATCH: Special Needs Piano Lessons – 6 Months of Occupational Octaves Piano for young student with Autism

The program is a full 8 book series from Mary Had a Little Lamb to Mozart, featuring a #SpecialNeedsUserFriendly #NewLanguageOfMusic with fun and colorful #RingsOnTheFingers! Books 1-3 are available to the general public (check below for discount information) while books 4-8 are exclusively for Occupational Octaves Piano™ Certified Instructors. In an E-MAIL ONLY SALE, Books 1-3 are available at a 15% discount through April, which is Autism Awareness Month, and May to honor the idea that Autism Awareness shouldn’t only be a public focus in April. Message Lee [AT] OccupationalOctavesPiano.com to place your order!

Understanding how to play the piano and read traditional music notation does not equal understanding how to teach it. This standard idea is even more important for a Special Needs Piano Lesson, so Lee began training and certifying Occupational Octaves Piano™ instructors, worldwide! Now, a new crop of Occupational Octaves Piano™ certified instructors is growing and with each one, dozens of worldwide special learners have an opportunity to play the piano! Teachers are located in schools and private programs through New York, Florida, California, Texas, Ireland, Bahrain, and Jordan with more to come!

Occupational Octaves Piano™ will also soon be accepting entrants for a contest to have a school or individual who you may think could be an Occupational Octaves Piano™ instructor receive a free training and certification! Check back at OOPianoLessons.com or Occupational Octaves Piano on Facebook for more information this summer.

With past recitals have been held at the Queens Museum of Art and Franklin Roosevelt Building, the June 26th recital at the Steinway Piano Gallery in Melville, NY (12:30PM) is the perfect opportunity for 15 students with Autism and other special needs to let their musicianship shine thanks to Occupational Octaves Piano™!
