Comedian & Actor Chris Roach From CBS’s “Kevin Can Wait” Pays Tribute to His Hometown with Beach Boys Parody “RONKOKOMO”

With References to Everything from Long Island Iced-Ts to The LIRR and LIE – Star’s Video Expresses Love For His Ronkonkoma Home and Greater Long Island

September, 2017 (Long Island, NY) — With his role as loveable friend “Mott” opposite Kevin James in CBS’s new sitcom “Kevin Can Wait” (produced by CBS Studios in association with Sony Pictures Television) reprised for Season 2 and returning this Fall – comic/actor/writer Chris Roach recently stepped into another, a’la Weird Al Yankovic, with a new parody song and video titled “RONKOKOMO”!

A parody of the classic Beach Boys 1989 hit, “RONKOKOMO” is Roach’s ode to the town and greater Long Island and New York communities he loves. In the video, the comic is seen hopping everywhere from a Long Island Railroad car to a boat cruising the Long Island Sound, to the Montauk Lighthouse, Lake Ronkonkoma, and even NYC!

Beginning in the classic Beach Boys tones, Roach belts “….Key Largo, Montego…ah forget that! You know where I really want to go? Off the Long Island Sound there’s a place called RONKOKOMO that’s where you want to go to get away from it all” with other references like “A once-polluted lake, and urban myth to make your thumbs shake, if you want to find me I’ll be riding the Long Island Railroad, down to RONKOKOMO” all guided by the hysterical refrain “Penn Station, Jamaica, ooooh I want to take ya // Mineola, then Hicksville, come on baby sit still // Farmingdale, then Deer Park, ooooh ya know we’re almost at RONKOKOMO! // We’ll take the train ‘cause the expressway’s slow”. But to see for yourself, check out the video below:WATCH: Chris Roach “RONKOKOMO” (Beach Boys Parody) via YouTube

With recent interviews on United Stations Radio, SiriusXM with Jim Breuer and his fellow castmates, The Anthony Cumia Show discussing his former NYPD career, with Jeffrey Gurian on how KCW came about, The Laugh Button where he talked about everything from his love for hockey to the trials and tribulations of being 6’6, WTNH’s “CT Style” explaining how he got his big break, on his comedy writing with ABC Tampa Bay’s “Morning Blend”, and hamming it up on the jumbotron at a recent NY Rangers game at Madison Square Garden; Roach has been on roll bringing side-splitting comedy to the masses. He even chatted it up with Katie Couric and fellow Long Islander Billy Joel at the Piano Man’s recent Madison Square Garden performance!

Chris enjoys coaching youth hockey as well as spending time with family and friends. A big believer in giving back, he often spends time doing charity events and sharing his comedy. For the past several years, he’s worked with Angela Gulizio of G & G Talent Management.

Singer/Songwriter Kate Van Dorn Brings Rootsy Alternative Sound to New York

September, 2017 (Long Island, NY) – With a powerful country rooted sound and blues influenced lyrical drive that has been described as both alternative and psychedelic, New York based Singer/Songwriter Kate Van Dorn, has shared her music with a discerning East Coast audience for some time now. With new music and a number of upcoming shows through this fall season, fans new and old will want to catch the new and emerging artist.

Kate Van Dorn and her live band easily fall into the wide realm of Americana. Largely bass driven and driving in nature, Kate’s original music is confessional, highly emotional and saturated in spacey guitar tones. Her sound was mainly conceived through her influences, including the Delta blues, music associated with Southern Gothic literature, the Outlaw country movement, cowboy riffs akin to the Old West and contemporaries such as Radiohead.

At seventeen, Kate began playing in her local hometown bars. A few years later, while busking for singles in a nearby airport, she was offered an opportunity to open for country music recording artist Thomas Rhett. After performing her first notable show, a turning point in Kate’s career, she began her journey as a recording artist.

Since then, she has rocked stages from the legendary Jones Beach Bandshell to The Space at Westbury Theater and many more, writing and creating along the way. Kate could not be anymore gracious regarding her journey as an artist thus far, stating, “It is a true privilege to pursue my passion. Without the support, encouragement and promotion I receive, none of this would be  possible. I am so unbelievably excited and thankful to continue to embark on this musical, artistic adventure.”

The Johnny Mac Band Releases Brand New Album “ACE”

September, 2017 (Long Island, NY) — Earlier this year, the buzz across the blogosphere went viral in reaction to The Johnny Mac Band’s release of their new single “ACE” from the eagerly awaited album of the same name.

Lydia Hillenbur writing for Vents Magazine observed that “Ace” the single, “showcases the forthcoming album in the best possible way and highlights the considerable musical talents of everyone involved.”

Bradley Johnson at Valhalla noted that “Ace” is “the kind of single that most bands dream of being able to lead off a new album.”

Frank McClure at Band Blurb concluded “The first single from The Johnny Mac Band’s second studio platter, the title song “Ace”, is so good that it’s practically a flashing neon sign to buy this album on release.”

To the delight of their longtime fans and many new friends, The Johnny Mac Band has delivered the full LP announcing that their album “ACE” is now available on Itunes, at Amazon.com, CDBaby, as well as through their Web Site johnnymacband.com!

Building on the success of their first studio release “Destination Memphis”, the reconfigured four piece Johnny Mac Band brings together a synthesis of Soul, Blues, R&B, Reggae, Jam Rock and other influences in an immensely musical way.

Johnny Mac on guitar and vocals, helms the band with founding members Dave Ice on bass and backing vocals, and Ray Hauck on drums and backing vocals. The addition of Joe Roberts on keyboards and backing vocals completes the V2.0 package.

With a ton of live performances behind them, it’s easy to hear just how “well-oiled” this machine has become. This veteran outfit has chops and finesse to burn and with no impediment to their passion play with a natural chemistry that’s impossible to duplicate.

As a finely honed unit going into New York’s Coop Studios to record 13 new original tracks for the “Ace” CD; they have achieved a crisp “live” sound that reaches far beyond the usual moves, and exhibits their cross genre depth with grace, spontaneity and authenticity.

From the driving title track “Ace”- to the hard core funk of “Groove Machine”, from the raucous what goes around comes around attitude of “Didn’t Wanna Text”, to the poignant “Part Time Man” and soulful duet “Waiting”– their homage to Gregg Allman with “5 Reasons to Leave”- an ethereal  “Soul Angel” and “Good Bye Orlando” – or crossing over with reggae styling on “Gimme Some of Your Lovin”, only to take it further with “Om Badi” and its reprise which echoes Paul Simon’s “Graceland”,  throw in the snappy “Making Changes” and a crowd pleaser bonus track like “Sugar Girl”– and what you get is a album called “ACE”; the superb product of gifted musicians who have crafted their sound in live performances as well as in the studio.

The Johnny Mac Band is:

Johnny Mac- guitars and vocals

Joe Roberts – keyboards and vocals

Dave Ice – bass and vocals

Ray Hauck – drums and vocals

The JMB has represented Long Island at the International Blues Challenge, a world class event held annually in Memphis TN. in both 2016 and 2017.

Their unique sound is well steeped in the roots of Blues, R&B, Funk, Reggae, Jazz and Soul music. The subtle influence of BB King, Ray Charles and others inform the band’s original music which is distinctly their own. The warmth of their sound has often been often described as…”Comfort Music for the Soul”.

Every performance is high energy and improvisational, always fresh and leaving audiences clamoring for more. The band can comfortably and authentically morph into any musical style ranging from Jazz to Motown or the Dead. They frequently attract the area’s finest musicians to their performances or to sit in as featured guests at their weekly jam sessions or formal Master Classes.

Always approachable, the band is happy to talk music with anyone who is interested. Each member has had long and successful careers in music and music education, and all of the members of The Johnny mac band are deeply committed to giving something back to the community through teaching and educating young musicians on various levels.

Upcoming Performances:

Thursday, September 14th, 7:30PM @ Beau’s Bar, Greenlawn, NY

As Northwell Health Shuts Down CareConnect, Those Seeking Answers Go to Leading Obamacare Expert Jason Samel

August, 2017 (Long Island, NY) — With Northwell Health’s recent decision to shut down its insurer CareConnect, many Long Islanders have been left uncertain as to their future. The Northwell subsidiary, which has 126,000 policyholders with more than half of them on the island has stated that these people will still be covered as they’re transferred to new providers. Jason Samel, New York’s leading ACA expert is concerned for what this combined with the confusion of Obamacare’s current political climate could mean for the community, and is determined to provide those seeking help navigating these changes with informational fact based solutions.

Licensed insurance consultant and premiere Obamacare expert Jason Samel, President of JayMar Insurance and founder of NewYorkObamacare.com, said in a recent article in Long Island Business News that the decision to close the insurer is going to have a big impact on the state’s and Long Island’s insurance market. “With over 100,000 enrollees, CareConnect’s exit from the marketplace is going to create havoc for consumers, businesses, and brokers much the same way the shutdown of Health Republic did in the past,” he said. Samel called this “an unfortunate pitfall of the Russian roulette” that he said President Donald Trump and the Republican party “have been playing with our healthcare system.”

While all eyes have been focused on repeal and replace Samel has been focusing on how the CareConnect closure combined with Obamacare’s political uncertainty will affect the people. As a New York State licensed Insurance Broker, Consultant and founder of NewYorkObamacare.com, Jason Samel can passionately speak to the immediate and foreseeable local and widespread consequences in sharp and concise sound bites.

WATCH: Jason Samel Interviewed on PIX 11 News

As Samel’s article he wrote in Crains New York states, he is “one of the last of a small battalion of soldiers who have helped the public through the insanity and confusion that followed the enactment of the Obamacare exchanges”. As one of the leading experts  Samel has been able to help both individuals and businesses all across NY state sift through the complexities of their own health insurance needs, and is once again stepping to the plate to help those affected by the CareConnect shutdown.
