VIDEO PREMIERE: donSMITH Bringing his A-Game to the “Table” with Dope New Drop

Talented Lyricist Building on Impressive Debut with Latest Delivery

Nov 2020 (New York, NY) — Watch the video for “Table”, the new release from rapper donSMITH, on YouTube now. The single is also available on Spotify, YouTube, Amazon, Apple Music and all the major services.

“Don’t Ask Me Where I’m From” is the NEW soulful and culturally articulate full length from donSMITH. Concise in length, the 30 minute album is entirely produced by Zoomo, a soul sampler buzzing amongst the underground and Peter Rosenberg’s weekly real late night Hot 97 radio show.

With limited features from east coast artists like PayDay signee Radamiz, and D.C. ‘s quickly rising emcee Ankhlejohn, donSMITH proclaims his cultural pride and geographical commitment, especially at the hands of gentrification.

On tracks like “Piragua” & “NYCHA”, donSMITH is boldly emphasizing a central theme: for us, by us, while records like “donDADA” & “All I Got” give praise to the family and women birthed in the culture of uptown, New York City.

This album acts as the centerpiece to donSMITH’s soulful and politically charged duel EP’s “Dear Culture” & “Postscript”, circling back to a central theme: “for us, by us”.

About donSMITH:

donSMITH is a 27 year old Harlem-bred artist and storyteller, illustrating the harsh realities and triumphs of his black and brown culture. Initially a producer and musician, donSMITH began to focus on the lyrical aspect of music. Eventually releasing his first EP, the Harlem emcee performed all over New York City, including The Knitting Factory, Bowery Electric, National Sawdust & more. donSMITH strives to create art that reflects the beauty birthed by struggle, trials with finding god, and cultural evaporation. Raw vulnerability and soulful storytelling are the backbone of donSMITH’s message, aiming to breed hope and fellowship among listeners, no matter where they are from.

The Legend Ice-T Asks “Can You Take It?” + Greg Hoy Answers HELL YEAH – on New Single/Video

The Legend Ice-T Asks “Can You Take It?” + Greg Hoy Answers HELL YEAH – on New Single/Video

The OG Abides as Hard Rock Riffs Collide in Entertaining Old School Homage

November 2020 (Los Angeles, CA) — “Can You Take It?”, the new single/video from superstar, world beater, baby maker and dedicated national traveler Greg Hoy, is now available on Spotify, YouTube and all the major services.

COURTESY MUSIC-NEWS.NET: 2020 has been an endurance test. We’ve all seen so many challenges, it’s a miracle we’re still upright. Somehow, even as the planet burns around us, we keep on answering the bell. Every morning, the world asks: can you take it? When it does, it helps to have a little backup. Greg Hoy, whose latest pop-rock single is a delightful blurt of insolence, has always been able to rely on the encouragement of his talented friends. In the music video for “Can You Take It?” Hoy gets a pep talk via teleconference from Ice-T. The legendary rapper, hard rocker, and actor does downplay the challenges we’re facing, but he lets Greg Hoy know that he has what it takes to make it through the day.

Ice-T kicks off the “Can You Take It?” clip with words of affirmation; Hoy’s fiery music handles the rest. The San Francisco rocker has built a reputation for inexhaustible energy, singalong choruses, and thrown-elbow verses, caustic Costello-style wit, and sharp, gleaming hooks, but we don’t think he’s ever been quite as frantic, or immediate, or catchy, as he is here. In the liner notes for Cacophony, Hoy’s recently-released EP, the songwriter credits himself with “vox, guitars, keys, and coffee,” and you can practically smell the pot brewing as he charges through these verses. Think of “Can You Take It?” as a strong shot of espresso, made to order by a generous, personable host who never slows down – or backs down.

“Can You Take It?” comes on the heels of “Messed Up World” (also from Cacophony), another single that foregrounds urgency, immediacy, tunefulness, and attitude. The video for “Messed Up World” was a pointed one: it interrogated our reliance on technology and asked whether we were digital captives to social networks. With its pop-up screens and playfully outdated hardware, the video felt suited to days spent indoors. “Can You Take It?” amplifies that energy and raises the stakes. The camera first finds Greg Hoy in a bedroom that’s too small for him, slumped on the mattress, weighted down by the pressures of modern living. But once he’s up – and he’s up in a flash – he’s practically throwing himself against the frames. Before long, everything is in motion, especially the singer. Just like the rest of us, he’s been floored by the year as it’s been. But he knows he can take it – and he knows you can, too.

About Greg Hoy:

Over the course of his career, Greg Hoy has released over thirty albums under various monikers such as The Royal Panics, Greg Hoy & The Boys, and Twice As Bright. Hoy has worked with a number of artists in various capacities including recording with The Last Town Chorus, performing at the base of the World Trade Center with Glenn Branca, and engineering bands with Steve Albini and J. Robbins. Currently based out of San Francisco CA, several of Hoy’s songs have been featured on network television on shows such as “One Tree Hill” and MTV’s “Made”. He was also a host for the original Arlene’s Grocery Punk Rock Heavy Metal Karaoke in New York City. In addition, Greg has been running a record label called 30 Peak since 2007 and has done regular production and soundtrack work under the name earhopper for many years as well.

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Paradiddle Records announces the release of Willie Nile Uncovered (Celebrating 40 Years of Music) on August 21, 2020. This two-CD collection features 26 songs from the New York rocker’s entire recording history performed by an array of both veteran and emerging artists, each putting their unique stamp on his songs.

The set celebrates the brilliant songwriting of one of rock ’n’ roll’s unsung heroes, an artist whose diehard fan base has included Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Pete Townshend, Lou Reed, Lucinda Williams, Jim Jarmusch, and Little Steven.

Paying tribute to Nile on Uncovered are Nils Lofgren, Graham Parker, Richard Barone, Richard Shindell, Elliott Murphy, John Gorka, Slaid Cleaves, James Maddock, Dan Bern, Kenny White, Rod Picott, Jen Chapin, Caroline Doctorow, Emily Duff, Pete Mancini and Iridesense among others, interpreting Willie’s songs in a range of styles -— rock, Americana, country, roots, folk and more.

Nile’s album New York at Night, released this past May 15. An earlier album, also a paean to New York, The Streets of New York, was hailed as “a platter for the ages” by Uncut magazine. “I’m humbled and deeply grateful to all the artists involved in this project for taking the time to record such beautiful versions of these songs,” says Nile. “When I first heard there was going to be a tribute album I was a little embarrassed as I don’t feel I’m any more deserving than anyone else for an album like this but after a few glasses of red wine and hearing the album I was elated. It was startling to hear such unique, different and poignant interpretations of my songs. Heartfelt thanks to all involved for making this songwriter’s journey through the back roads of a soul more than worth the effort.”

Tommy Botz’ Story of Loss and Redemption Helps Others Heal Through Music

Tommy Botz’ Story of Loss and Redemption Helps Others Heal Through Music

Fighting the Demon of Substance Abuse, Songwriter Inspires Change Through the Power of Words and Melody

May, 2020 (Cleveland, OH) — From a decades long battle with alcoholism,  which led him down the dark path of incarceration and homelessness, to finding sobriety and accomplishing his lifelong dream to professionally record his music, Songwriter Tommy Botz’s story is both a cautionary tale and an uplifting journey of redemption.

With much of today’s modern country music often glamorizing cold beers and heartache in an ever-continuous chain as a way to deal with pain, Tommy Botz is instead bringing his true-to-life struggle and its consequences to life through his music.

Though prominent in many of the songs off his latest release “Family & Friends”, a powerful light is shined on his struggle with the bottle and the lives it can impact in his single “Maggie”.

Botz has also penned a heartbreaking yet beautiful ballad in “Teddy Bear”, a song written for a fellow inmate while locked up in an Ohio penitentiary. “He knew that I wrote songs and came to my cell in tears one night because he just found out that his little girl had passed away” Says Botz, “His wife was losing her mind questioning her faith and he asked if i could write something for his daughter’s memory.

Additionally, Singer Rose Marie, Tommy’s fiancé who has stood by his side for 30 years, sings on the powerful gospel song “He’s Coming Back”.

Now sober for over 16 years, you can see Tommy has truly come a long way. Since finishing his incarceration, he’s been off the streets for good – living quietly at The Ed Keating Center, a halfway house in Ohio, after having “crawled through the doors” on May 3rd, 2004 as a “homeless drunk with nowhere to go”.

There he met a kind old man named Jack Mulhall who told him that if he followed some direction he would never have to live like that again. “I wasn’t always a homeless drunk. I had dreams and goals like every young man has. I always loved country and gospel music.” says Botz, whose early interest led him to become the lead singer in two bands – The Chevells and The Caesars 5 early in his music career, winning a Battle of the Bands and winding up with an RCA recording contract. But after the loss of their guitar player and their contract being pulled, Botz’s drinking got worse and soon penitentiaries became a way of life.

From broken marriages to lost jobs, no car, and no license – living to drink and drinking to live became his routine. Finally, with several years of sobriety and working under his belt  – he made the decision to go for his dream and finally record some of the over 200+ songs he had written over the years.

“One night while I was praying I heard in my heart – go for your dream and I will put someone in your life who believes in your music”, and after contacting Ante Up Studios owner Michael Seifert, the two began a collaboration that would ultimately become his 6-song EP “Family and Friends”. Hear the full record at
