The Chris Ruben Band To Rock Millennium Music Conference Showcase at Grotto Pub, Enola, PA On Friday, February 22nd

The Band Will Hit the Road for One of the Largest and Most Reputable Music Conferences in the Mid-Atlantic

Following a New Year that saw the band inject as much energy and ferocity into their latest live shows that they have into their most recent release “Stomach Coil”, the Chris Ruben Band are getting ready for more. What’s being called “A package wrapped up in originality and virtuoso-level musicianship” and “an authentic slab of vibrant physicality for a generation desperate to be moved by their music.” – CRB will perform a live showcase at the Grotto Pub (104 Market Street, Enola, Pennsylvania 17025) for the Millennium Music Conference on Friday, February 22nd at 11:30 PM! And for fans that can’t make it out to PA, the band will play Pianos in downtown NYC on Friday, March 15th.

The Chris Ruben Band is a funk/rock band from Long Island, New York. The group features five members; Chris Ruben (Vocals, Guitar), Brendan Allan (Bass), Russ Benjamin (Drums), Eugene Iovine(Keyboards, Synths), & Frank Iovine (Synths, Organs). Influenced by classic acts including The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, and Nirvana, together their sound is a blend of modern funk and indie-rock reminiscent of  Jamiroquai and Mac DeMarco. The band has become a staple in the Long Island music scene, frequenting venues including Portside Bar & Grill, 89 North, The Velvet Lounge, and BrickHouse Brewery. In addition, they have had the pleasure of performing at SXSW, Froggy Daze 7 & 8, The Space at Westbury,The Bitter End, Alive After Five, and The Jones Beach Bandshell.

“Ever since I can remember I have been surrounded by music. My father repairs woodwind and brass instruments, so since I was little, top-notch musicians have been coming in and out of my home. But music always spoke to me.” says singer/songwriter Chris Ruben. Ruben began as a drummer, and first started gigging with bands at the age of thirteen. By the time he was sixteen, he made the switch to guitar and started writing songs of his own. In late 2014, the first version of The Chris Ruben Band was formed. Over time, Chris added and replaced players until the perfect lineup was created. “We are more than a band, we are family.”

In a recent review from Mobangeles, the band is called “tasty good” with a sound described as “pure grit” for “any fans wanting to pad their musical library with raw and multi-layered musical arrangements”, along with Razorfish saying their “musical talents carry the day here and will be what keeps us coming back for more”.

As they continue into 2019 with further recording projects and plenty more live shows in the works, they’re excited to rock their showcase at the Grotto Pub in Enola, PA for the Millennium Music Conference on Friday, February 22nd followed by Pianos in NYC on Friday, March 15th!

Pop Music Icon, Teaming Up with “The Prince of Sunshine” is Back with New Single “Need It Tonight” – Out February 22nd

Son and Nephew of Famed Original “K.C. and the Sunshine Band” Members Has Teamed Up With Legendary K.C. Producer/Songwriter/Arranger/Bassist Rick Finch For A Modern Take On His Original Sunshine Sound

Bringing back the magic of the classic 70s Miami party sound with a fresh new twist is no easy feat. But for producer/arranger/singer/songwriter Ron Louis Smith II, help came in the form of an old friend on his latest track “Need It Tonight” – original K.C. and the Sunshine Band co-founder Rick Finch!

As the son of Ron Louis Smith and nephew of Jerome Smith – renowned for their role as the ‘heart and soul’ of the legendary KCSB horn and rhythm sections (as well as numerous musical contributions outside the band like playing on Bob Marley’s “Buffalo Soldier”, records like Jimmy Bo Horne’s “Dance Across the Floor” and Betty Wright’s “Explosion”), Ron Louis Smith II is no stranger to his family legacy. Steeped in everything from Disco to Funk, Reggae to Soul and much more – he’s bringing some of that magic right back with his latest single.

Taking the helm on “Need It Tonight”, famed producer/songwriter/arranger/bassist Rick Finch is no stranger to hit music. Having co-founded 70s disco hitmakers “K.C. and the Sunshine Band” with singer/keyboardist Harry Wayne “K.C.” Casey, the duo co-produced six number one pop hits – “Get Down Tonight“, “That’s the Way (I Like It)“, “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty“, “I’m Your Boogie Man“, and the sweet ballad “Please Don’t Go“. Their collaboration lead to over 150 million recordings worldwide; twelve Grammy nominations (including three Producer nominations on the first round 2010 Grammy Award Ballot); three Grammy Awards; one American Music Award; 15 BMI Songwriter/Arranger Awards; Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum awards; 17 #1 pop singles – including four #1 singles in one 12-month period, and three crossover #1 hits and two albums achieving triple platinum status. Today, Finch’s bass lines are recognized worldwide and have been sampled by artists including 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Ultra Nate and Beyoncé to name a few.

Now making his return behind the mixing board, Finch has put the perfect spin on the funky, bass-driven grooves of Smith’s fun, sexy, dance-inducing track that pays homage to the K.C. legacy while staying true to the modern Miami dance music scene.

Ron Louis Smith II has co-wrote with some of the biggest DJs/Producers in the EDM and House Music movement such as Joris Voorn (“Spank the Maid”), Umek (“Spank!”) , Black Legend (“The Word”), along with  Gary Caos, Joe Smooth, Marco Santoro, Luca Guerrieri, Joey Negro, and Sandy Rivera. He continues to strengthen his family’s legacy with a new commercial Funky/pop/rock project called “Part 2“.

Ron Louis Smith II is Dance Music, and now with “Need It Tonight” making its debut on February 22nd, his latest collaboration with the legendary Rick Finch is sure to solidify just that!
