Established in 2015, two musically talented, neurodivergent individuals discovered that when they put their talents together, wonderful things happen. They continued to jam, invited more musically talented friends to join them in their jam sessions and most importantly  let nothing stand in the way of their dreams. Countless hours of rehearsals were spent in the drummer’s basement working  toward a goal of playing for an audience. That day finally came and today we present to you – Mayhem Long Island.

Past shows included a slot LIVE on-air on 90.3 WHPC Rising Stars with Rick Eberle in Garden City, a performance at a special private event in Merrick, a great gig at Grunts Sports Bar in Levittown and a special concert appearance at Dave & Busters in Westbury.

Long Island’s First Year-Round Haunted House Experience Store Opens June 1st

Long Island’s Halloween enthusiasts are in for a treat this summer as www.HauntedProps.com a leading online retailer for Halloween products, announces the grand opening of Long Island’s only year-round Halloween Haunted House Experience store on June 1st located at 713 Wading River Rd in Manorville, NY. Open from 10am to 5pm, the store will be open on weekends beginning June 1st, with extended hours planned for the fall season.

Established in Deer Park in 2006, www.HauntedProps.com has earned a reputation as a top supplier of Halloween products, catering to renowned clients such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Six Flags Theme Parks, Katy Perry, Phil Anselmo from metal band Pantera, and American icon Dick Van Dyke.

The store’s 3,000 square foot showroom in Manorville will offer a tantalizing glimpse into its vast online catalog, showcasing a wide range of Halloween essentials from economically-priced costumes, masks, and lighting equipment to Theme Park grade animatronics and props priced in the thousands.

Designed to evoke the spine-chilling atmosphere of a haunted house, HauntedProps’ store features a front facade resembling a creepy old barn, setting the stage for an immersive shopping experience. Inside, customers will encounter a macabre array of new and vintage Halloween props, animatronics, masks, special effects equipment, makeup, costumes, and more.

“We wanted to create a destination where Halloween lovers could immerse themselves in the eerie ambiance of the season year-round,” said Joe Persampiere, the store’s owner. “Our showroom is not just a store—it’s an adventure through a haunted house, complete with a fog-breathing animatronic gargoyle, a creepy doll room, and a ‘butcher shop’ themed section.”

As a locally owned and operated business, HauntedProps prides itself on offering a larger and more unique selection of items than other franchised Halloween stores. Many of the products sold in the store are hand-crafted by Independent artists and fabricators from all over the U.S. – a selection which Product Manager Aidan P. Finnegan helps to curate. Finnegan, a seasoned Halloween Industry Professional who frequently travels the country consulting for and producing top-rated Haunted Houses, pulls from his personal network of artists to help HauntedProps stand out from the pack.

“At the larger chain Halloween Retailers, you’re not going to find a one-of-a-kind costume, prop, or set piece,” says Finnegan. “Come to HauntedProps, and we’ll help make sure you have the most unique costume at your party. If you’re serious about decorating your house, we offer professional props and animatronics for sale that are far more impressive than those 12 foot Skeletons everyone has now.”

Finnegan ads, “You really need to experience it for yourself – walking through the store is an unforgettable experience that customers can check out all year long. We share the same goal that our customers do, and that’s to entertain.” Once the doors are open and the operation is running, the store plans on bringing its team of professional scenic artists, who install and fabricate some of the country’s largest haunted houses, to add and renovate the haunted scenes and set pieces, ensuring there will always be something new for returning customers to see.

The store will be open on weekends beginning June 1st, with extended hours planned for the fall season.

There are things that happen in dreams, of course, that none of us would ever feel comfortable sharing in public. Singer/songwriter Ben Sefton doesn’t exactly spill all the details in his latest single “Dark Dreams,” but he bravely stares-down his insecurities and emerges with a mesmerizing new slice of lounge-folk/dark pop genius.

Ben explains, “This is a song I started writing after a bad dream, where all of my deepest insecurities were exposed, my hopes at romance had utterly failed and my perverted longings for certain acquaintances were bizarrely explored (as in every dream I’ve ever had, I guess).”

While “Dark Dreams” will leave you unsettled (and chuckling) in equal measure, it is perhaps the perfect balance of discomfort and humor to inspire us to take a look at all the foibles we keep hidden from ourselves. It is also an exquisite piece of songcraft with shades of lounge music, vocal jazz and bossa nova — the latest example from a singer/songwriter whose versatility is outpaced only by his smoothness.

About Ben Sefton

After graduating from Selkirk College’s Contemporary Music & Technology Program in 2015, Ben has spent his time crafting and fine tuning his songs. Ben’s budding love of songwriting as a teen quickly developed into an obsession, fueling the creation of 100’s of unreleased songs. Driven by his deep love of earworm pop melodies stemming from such influences as The Beach Boys, Frank Ocean and Andy Shauf as well as a passion for candid lyrical witticism and word play, Ben has effectively created a style all of his own. In March, 2020, Ben released his debut single ‘Humans’ to great reception with the press including CBC Saskatchewan, CBC Winnipeg and numerous music websites in North America, UK, and Europe. The single was included on many pop music playlists including Universal Music owned playlists on Spotify. The video for Humans (created by the artist who did Grimes’ digital Rolling Stones cover) received close to 100,000 views and 100% thumbs up. In addition, Ben was pleased to receive, in 2020, a SK Arts Independent Artist’s recording grant.

Ben’s musical journey has benefitted from the personal instruction and advice of a few key professors and mentors at Selkirk College, a school which boasts such high-profile alumni as Kiesza and Meghan Trainor. Majoring in composition and prompted by his growing curiosity into the inner workings of harmony and song writing, Ben’s musical palate has steadily expanded. With the help of vocal coach Laura Landsberg and backed by hours of focused guitar practice, Ben matches his ceaseless song creation with considerable vocal and instrumental prowess. Drawing on influences of virtuoso guitarists from John Mayer to Django Reinhardt and the rich vocals of Frank Sinatra and Dallas Green, Ben takes joy in constantly refining his skills and looks forward to sharing his vast catalog of songs.

The Earthly Frames Sing the Body Robotic with New Single Cicatrise Dud

The Earthly Frames Sing the Body Robotic with New Single Cicatrise Dud

Deeply Weird Genre Bending Streak Continues with Full Length Infranyms Out 6/3

WATCH THE MESMERIZING “CICATRISE DUD” VIDEO

Musical mad scientist Gabriel Walsh is back with “Cicatrise Dud,” the latest offering from his ever-shapeshifting project The Earthly Frames and the first single from the new full-length Infranyms, out June 3rd.

With “Cicatrise Dud,” Walsh delves into robotics and the human-technology interface while giving us a taste of his new direction: a retro-futuristic barrage of rock and pop, Infranyms sees Walsh finding the ecstatic sweet spot between new wave and no wave while balancing synthetic sounds with careful, introspective songwriting.

One of most captivating experimentalists on the contemporary indie landscape, Walsh has switched genres over the course of the last six Earthly Frames albums, from electronic to classical to what Walsh himself describes as “deeply weird rock.” And, as his body of work expands, Walsh increasingly resembles a kind of missing link between classic American eccentrics like R. Stevie Moore and modern YouTube outsider artists like Louis Cole.

Infranyms is the seventh album in Walsh’s series The Rainbow Table — a decade-plus endeavor to create an LP for each color of the classic ROYGBIV mnemonic. Infranyms occupies the much-debated indigo spectrum of The Rainbow Table. Many speculate Sir Isaac Newton only added this half-way color to align with a grander pattern he saw in observation and the occult. Infranyms celebrates this gloriously unverifiable assertion in measure and mystery.

The Earthly Frames is the current musical incarnation of Gabriel Walsh. (Walsh derived the name from the almost-disturbingly trippy children’s puppet program Magic Star Traveler.) For twenty-five years Walsh has been producing experimental pop recordings. He’s played in bands such as sad-songers Timesbold, freaky-improvers Wooden Wand & the Vanishing Voice, and Hebrew space-rockers The Solillians.

With The Earthly Frames, we can hear the through-line of layered, warped sounds that Walsh has been honing for a quarter century join up with a fixation on disjointed, fictional worlds. For example, the first Earthly Frames release was a USB drive with a one-of-a-kind narrative fragment. Owners of the devices had to choose whether or not to share their particular artifact with the others to complete the story or keep it to themselves – flipping the notion of music file sharing on its head. The following release came with a card game and short film all set in the world of a billboard salesman who’s having a nervous breakdown.

Greg Hoy & the Boys Get Back to Riff Rock Roots on Hives/Kinks Inspired “Holy Mother of God” EP, Video, and Tour

Greg Hoy & the Boys Get Back to Riff Rock Roots on Hives/Kinks Inspired “Holy Mother of God” EP, Video, and Tour

After last year’s introspective “Yay For Effort” vinyl LP and tour, Greg Hoy and The Boys return to the catchy punk pop sound of their earlier albums. “Holy Mother of God”, which is now available on Bandcamp with a planned release to Spotify and hard hitting music video that’s about to drop, is three and half minutes of guitar riff catchy rock n roll.

The 4 song EP features two amazing guests. In particular, Eddie Spaghetti of The Supersuckers – one of rock n roll’s underrated songwriters and icons – took the title of the song, and wrote an entire new story from a different perspective. And as a joke, the band decided to cut a tongue-in-cheek ‘upbeat’ version, “Holy Mother of Ska”, featuring veteran ska icon Dave Sharma, drummer of the famously cool The Skalars, to play on it.

Jack Rabid from The Big Takeover says “With ‘Holy Mother of God’, California’s Hoy & The Boys are back to restless rocking — if The Kinks’ ‘You Really Got Me’ lashed to Nirvana’s “Lithium.”…if Cobain or Chrissie Hynde sang this strong outing, it’d be a smash”.

The trio’s tour will hit several regions and have the band sharing the stage on the east coast leg with Richard Reilly of legendary NYC 80s punks Victims.

East Bay, CA-based songwriter Greg Hoy – who’s recorded with Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies), Sylvia Massy (Johnny Cash, Tom Petty), and John Vanderslice (Spoon, Nada Surf) – toured incessantly across the US over the past several years supporting his releases “Yay for Effort” and “Cacophony”. Comparisons to Jack White, Tom Petty, and Brittany Howard aside, the veteran songwriter has been a long time critical favorite. Hip-hop icon Ice-T appeared in his music video for ‘Can You Take It?’ which was nominated for a California Music Video Award. Picked to take part in the Durango Songwriters Showcase for Film & TV, his songs have been heard on networks such as the CW, HBO, and MTV, as well as in commercials for Pinterest, Adobe, and American Express. Time Out NY says “Hoy’s music is fueled by straight up melodicism”. Red Red Wine on a Sunday says “Greg’s records are deep – like peeling layers off an onion – each song is a revelation!”, Broken 8 says his work “shines with a focused punk rock swagger.”
