Songwriter Tommy Botz Drops Latest Country Single “Maggie”

With A True Honky-Tonk Country Feel, The Song’s Story Goes Deeper – Showing Botz’s Lifelong Struggle with Alcohol and The Heartbreak It Causes

With a lot of today’s modern country music often glamorizing cold beers and heartache in an ever-continuous chain as a way to deal with pain  – Songwriter Tommy Botz is instead bringing his true-to-life struggle and its consequences to life through his music. Though prominent in many of the songs off his latest release “Family & Friends”, a powerful light is shined on his struggle with the bottle and the lives it can impact in his latest number one single “Maggie”, out now.

With the perfect amount of country twang, brilliant guitar and fiddle work and a deep crooning vocal arrangement a’la vocalist Billy Sullivan, it can be easy to forget the sad story behind the struggle in Botz’s lyrics in “Maggie”. From family life to living in a train car because of the bottle, the song paints a picture of the fall from grace many can suffer from the effects of alcohol and its tightened grasp on those afflicted. The heartfelt refrain says it all “Maggie I’m sorry, tell the kids goodbye // You know I gave it a hell of a try // Maggie I’m sorry, you don’t understand // That a drunk will sell his soul for just one bottle if he can” and goes even deeper with harrowing lines like “What do I do with the memory, that haunts me every day // Lord forgive me, I couldn’t see what the drink was taking away”. But with the songwriters true-to-life story of redemption in recent years, “Maggie” plays out not just as a story of woe but more as a warning to those who should seek help in dealing with the struggles of substance abuse.

Tommy Botz has come a long way. Now sober for 14 ½ yrs, he’s lived in a halfway house after having “crawled through the doors on May 3rd 2004 of The Ed Keating Center a homeless drunk with nowhere to go”. There he met a kind old man named Jack Mulhall who told him that if he followed some direction he would never have to live like that again. “I wasn’t always a homeless drunk. I had dreams and goals like every young man has. I always loved country and gospel music.” says Botz, whose early interest lead him to become the lead singer in two bands – The Chevells and The Caesars 5 early in his music career, winning a Battle of the Bands and winding up with an RCA recording contract. But after the loss of their guitar player and their contract being pulled, Botz’s drinking got worse and soon penitentiaries became a way of life.

From broken marriages to lost jobs, no car, and no licence – living to drink and drinking to live became his routine. Finally, with several years of sobriety and working under his belt  – he made the decision to go for his dream and finally record some of the over 200+ songs he had written over the years.

One night while I was praying I heard in my heart – go for you dream and I will put someone in your life who believes in your music”, and after contacting Ante Up Studios owner Michael Seifert, the two began a collaboration that would become his 6-song EP “Family and Friends”.

As he continues to receive praise for his songwriting talent in the hopes that his music finds its way to Nashville and a potential collaboration with further established artists, “Maggie” and all of the songs off “Family and Friends” are sure to build a true fanbase for Tommy Botz in the coming year!

Brooke Moriber’s Latest Single “Steal the Thunder” Champions Courage in the Midst of Pain

Off Her Brand New Album “Cry Like A Girl”, The Empowering Track Is One of Encouragement Amidst Heartbreak

Having just dropped her brand new album (OUT NOW via iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon), Singer/Songwriter Brooke Moriber is continuing to show her fans how to “Cry Like A Girl”! But with her latest single “Steal the Thunder”, which hit the Spotify New Music Nashville playlist earlier this month, and which she recently performed live for City Winery’s Cellar Sessions – Moriber focuses on what it means to learn from pain.

LISTEN: Brooke Moriber “Steal the Thunder” via Apple Music

Through its rootsy Americana-driven melody that may seem fit to be played in a sad western barroom, the true message of “Steal the Thunder” is anything but that of melancholy, but rather keeping strength through trying times. “We are stronger than our weakness, if all the broken pieces make you cry, it’s alright” Moriber sings in the song’s refrain, continuing “In your deepest, darkest hour, don’t deny the storm its power // Make something bold and brave out of the pain, steal the thunder from the rain”. Keeping true to many of the central themes of the album, the song focuses more on connecting with your emotions in a positive way rather than letting them destroy your inner courage.

“Cry Like A Girl” was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, with legendary producer Fred Mollin (Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill, Shawn Colvin) at the helm and mixed by 5 time Grammy Winner Chris Lord-Alge (Carrie Underwood, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen). The 11-track release delves into messages of self-discovery, empowerment, and overall growth, which Moriber says embodies the collection as a whole. “Itʼs a statement about the strength that comes from embracing your emotions and allowing yourself to heal and grow. The making of this album was a journey of self discovery for me”.

And with the latest single “Steal the Thunder” continuing the momentum that “Cry Like A Girl” has been gaining since it’s release just last month – Moriber will be bringing it to the stage LIVE for the official release show on Wednesday, June 12th at 7:30PM at Rockwood Music Hall – Stage 2 (196 Allen St, New York, NY 10002)!

Songwriter Tommy Botz’s Story of Redemption and Helping Others Heal Through Music Rings True in New Country Single “Teddy Bear”

Locked Up In an Ohio Penitentiary, He Helped A Fellow Inmate Grieve Through Song. Now That Single and His Powerful Journey Come to Light

From his battle with alcoholism and living on the street to nearly 15 yrs of sobriety and finally realizing his dream to record his music – Songwriter Tommy Botz’s journey is one of hardship, compassion, and redemption. And through that journey has shined a heartbreaking yet beautiful ballad in “Teddy Bear”.

The powerful country song sang from the point of view of a grieving mother through the stunning work of a female vocalist Logan Wells is one that truly hit home for Tommy Botz, who wrote it for a fellow inmate while locked up in an Ohio penitentiary. “He knew that I wrote songs and came to my cell in tears one night because he just found out that his little girl had passed away” Says Botz, “His wife was losing her mind questioning her faith and he asked if i could write something for his daughter’s’ memory.”. That night he penned “Teddy Bear”, and though having never had children of his own he simply wrote from the heart. Quoting the great country singer-songwriter Hank Williams Sr., he says he believed “I hold the pen and GOD writes the words” which he hoped would help heal the pain of loss.

LISTEN: “Teddy Bear” via Music Radio Promotions

In recent reviews, Vents Magazine has said “The real treasure to be sought after in this track is its sterling lyrical content, the substance of which is derived from our songwriter’s exploration of his own relationship with youth, the concept of growing older and our own mortality, as well as a contemplative look at what it means to find wisdom in age.”. Indie Pulse has even called it “A moving, evocative country anthem in an era that has been plagued with inauthenticity and uninspired fodder from the Nashville establishment.”.

Now, with “Teddy Bear” continuing to garner rave reviews and fans listening in on his incredible journey from the street to penning thoughtful and inspiring music – Tommy Botz story is certainly one of inspiration.

Ajay Mathur’s New Video “Start Living Again” Takes Viewers On A Journey Of Resilience and Redemption

The Grammy Nominated Singer/Songwriter Has Teamed Up With Provoke Films’ Ciro Ayala For Latest Music Video Collaboration Off 2018’s “Little Boat” LP

On the heels of his successful 2018 LP Little Boat” (which won “Best Album of the Year” at Germany’s 36th Annual Rock & Pop Awards) and following his latest music video “Time For Deliverance” – Singer/Songwriter Ajay Mathur is back with another powerful visual adaptation of his music with “Start Living Again”.

WATCH: Ajay Mathur “Start Living Again” Official Video

Mathur has once again collaborated with Filmmaker Ciro Ayala who created the video for yet another “Little Boat” single – “My Wallet Is A House of Cards” in 2018 (WATCH: Introduction by Ciro – the artist behind ‘My Wallet Is A House Of Cards’ video). Ayala says of his most recent creation “The house in ruins, rebuilding itself through the whole song, is a symbol of someone recovering from a troublesome relationship with the healing force of resilience. The artist abstractly represented as a flame of fire – floating in the air right at the center of the house – is a symbol of love, strength and inspiration to overcome ingrained blocks and obstacles.” which is certainly true of his powerful visuals. He continues “Before one is ready to start living again, one first needs to consume the fear of parting from a toxic relationship and be reborn from the ashes as a better version of one’s self: idea represented in the last scene of the music video, by the “free-spirited” bird.

On his own true inspiration behind the song, Ajay says the song comes straight out of his own life experience. By no means a “broken heart” song, or even a sad song for that matter, the artist says “It’s a song about making a decision on a relationship fallen apart. It’s about getting smart about your own life. It’s about a decision to pull yourself out of a bad relationship and start living again” and “Sometimes the best thing we can do is let something pass, get ourselves together, get some space and just move on to what comes next”.

Start Living Again is an album highlight which comes to the forefront with stripped back guitar and pleasant melodies. The slow-paced atmosphere works well as wailing echo-laden guitars drift in and out whilst the song pushes forward eagerly. There’s a definite Beatles influence here with its psychedelic, floaty nature that works really well.” Jamie Parmenter, Vinyl Chapters

Start Living Again” brings down the beat as well as the message. A broken heart is the message this time and Mathur hits the subject straight on.Kath Galasso, Onstage Magazine

Start Living Again” starts off with a smattering of drums and the harmonious blend of Mathur’s vocals.  Mathur really belts out the tunes on this slower striding ballad. The track starts off strong, taking on the motto of ‘getting it together’ after any tremendous heartbreak.  Mathur’s vocals here conjure a bit of retro vibe with a New Wave twist to the Americana track. My Nguyen, Celebrity Café

Little Boat, Ajay Mathur’s newest album, was launched on its maiden voyage in the usual way in spring of this year. Quickly picked up by playlists and fans, the music and the album’s message of resilience has resonated with listeners and critics alike. Unlike previous projects, though, Little Boat has taken on a life of its own, picking up unexpected passengers along the way.

Independent of each other, diverse digital artists from around the globe including from Istanbul and Warsaw as well as an Argentinean in Los Angeles, heard a call and felt compelled to add some valuable cargo to Little Boat’s journey. The result is a colourful, complex and highly-imaginative work of animated accompaniments to Ajay’s songs.

The first of these, released earlier this year, is a quirky psychedelic and vibrant tribute to the title song ‘Little Boat’, composed by the young Turkish artist Mertcan Mertbilek. The next to be released was a provocative animated video to the stomping blues rocker ‘My Wallet is a House of Cards’. The images were inspired by the rebellious spirit of the song and depict a ruthless caricature of consumption and an increasingly indebted society. This stunning video was created by Argentine artist Ciro Ayala, who lives and works in Los Angeles. More videos are in the works and will hit the waves in the coming months.

Video artists are not the only passengers that have hopped on Little Boat’s journey. Besides the digital treasures, an illustrated children’s book by a writer in Delhi, India as well as a full-length novel weaving through the themes in Little Boat by an American living in Switzerland are in the works.

It is plain to see that Little Boat has left ripples in its wake, touching people at every port along the way. Rarely does an album inspire this kind of organic response and like any true adventure on the open seas, it is impossible to tell which way the winds will blow next. This music has opened up a whole new route on unchartered waters. Batten down the hatches because this Little Boat is on course to explore new and uncharted worlds.

As he continues to rack up tons of praise around the globe from both fans and critics alike, it seems 2019 will be yet another great year for Ajay Mathur!

Little Boat, which was given its final touches at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London, is available in digital formats for download and streaming, as well as physical vinyl and compact disc album formats.

Discovering a knack for music at a very young age, Jesse learned how to play multiple instruments from drums to bass, guitar, keyboards, and polished his vocal talents playing in local bands on his home turf – Long Island, NY. Eplan’s music consists of genres anywhere from Hip-Hop to Pop and R&B, and able to blend them in a unique way and make it his own has come from years of immersing himself in music.

Having first heard Led Zeppelin, ACDC, The Beatles and many of the world’s top music revolutionaries in early adolescence through his teen years – it influenced him immensely as he began performing in bands as a lead singer, drummer and lead guitar player. When he began playing throughout Long Island and Manhattan in various gigs and charity events which raised thousands of dollars helping to fight crohn’s disease, colitis, and breast cancer, he was then able to really cut his teeth as a live musician.

As he began developing perfect pitch from his guitar and piano playing, it helped him immensely with his next stage of music: writing, producing and recording. Purchasing Logic X Pro, he was able to learn the digital audio workstation and music production software with ease, teaching himself every facet of the program and figuring out how to make beats to record his own vocal tracks over. This brought him into a new world of exploring Hip-Hop, R&B and Trap Music which would be where he ultimately found his niche as a successful singer/songwriter and producer.

Since then, he’s made appearances on My Long Island TV’s Rick’s Rising Stars (which airs on Verizon FiOS1), as a guest on Live It Up! with Donna Drake, and performed LIVE on the world famous Jones Beach Bandshell stage for the 2017 “Live at the Shell” Summer Concert Series.
